Good grief. It works perfectly with Spotify Connect, setup took me about 5 minutes.
Did you get it to work with Qobuz?

I’m a Tidal user but have Qobuz as well.
It connects with Chromecast but seems it won’t update firmware no matter what I’ve tried.

I can’t get it to update either. I’ve tried resetting to factory, reloaded Fosi app
and all the other usual things.

Thank you @Laserjock . These S3s do not work as advertised.
Just now I went as far as hooking up via wired ethernet. Same result, will not update. Fosi Support has responded that there are released FW versions later than my 0.0.200 version and yet it will not update.
My understanding is Qobuz Connect will come up on Music Services Page if the firmware is updated.
@yuting Please help.

Or??...the mothership where firmware downloads should be coming from is not working or not managed well??

On a side note, I have Wiim Pro Plus and several Bluesound Nodes (3 versions) and didn’t habe any issues streaming from them.
I bought the Fosi hoping to use the XLR out direct to power amp in a non critical space.

Looks like the Fosi S3 will work with Tidal but the in app version is very basic.

I was thinking the other day when trying to help that the server where the file is might be down, however I checked network activity and logs and see no issues connecting (all status 200 and the IP it tries to read looks like a datacenter in Hong Kong is able to connect), so I am not sure anymore.

I received my unit May 18 and it updated that night to the latest with Qobuz Connect, so it was definitely working then.

Server down? Why would not someone at Fosi know this?
@yuting Help please

Same here.

TY @BenF momentum is building.....

It says something about automatically updating at midnight so I’m going to leave it on and see if there’s anything that happens after a day or so.

Edit addition:

“How do I update the firmware?
Manual update:
App → Settings → Firmware Version & Update → Internet Update
Automatic update:
When connected to the internet, updates will install automatically (typically overnight).“

Midnight? Your time, my time or their time? I think it is just another lie.

See edit for quote from manual. I misspoke (it states, “overnight” although that could be very different also.

I have an inquiry into the Fosi forum as well. I did search some there and found some complaints about extremely long update times (5 hrs plus)

Might need to make a new thread here as to not muddy up the “review” of it.

I actually think it's good to have user experiences posted in the ASR product review thread. Without them people don't get a taste of what to expect from this $250 purchase. The fact that FOSI 3 updates can't always be done with the touch of a button is good to know. Qobuz connect should be easy to use. Not an art in how to get the update to engage while you sleep.

I'm surprised you haven't returned the FOSI 3 product yet. When my purchase doesn't meet my need the first day, it's back to Amazon for a full refund the next day. I don't support companies with poorly designed product and I don't keep it on a hope that one day they might fix it.

The last update took awhile here in the US, but it completed overnight with no fuss.

So what version do you have now? I still cannot update manually.
Are you hooked up wireless or wired?

@amirm have you been following any of this? I humbly suggest you add a caution to your review that updating firmware to a version that allows Qobuz Connect is hit and miss at best.

Now Customer Support at Fosi wants me to send them a video of me pushing the "check for update" button in their app and getting "no update available" as a response.

last response from @yuting was Wednesday in a DM.

Just think your doing a good deed for the rest of the community at the expense of losing your mind. Im sure they will find a bug somewhere. I have faith in Fosi, I think they will figure it for you. Hang in there.
