Fosi BT20a Max

What would convince you that changing op-amps does noting to improve the sound? We have already established that neither measurements nor boats does the trick, so what would it take?
Why is it so hard for people to accept that some people can hear the difference, envy, jealousy, ignorance, inexperience, physical deficiencies…the mind is quizzically engaged to say the least. Some people believe that measuring a system is absolute to how it sounds. Let me tell you, it’s just isn’t.
The only thing measuring a system with tell you is the synergy of the the parts chosen for purpose and absolutely nothing else until you switch it on and yet people determine from such a limited purpose that all end results will sound the same, again, they just don’t.

Anyway back to the BT20Max….nice design, but probably will sound pretty much like every other stock value NE5523/Ti 3255 chip based amp and no room for rolling the op amps.

A very basic set and forget for the over convenient consumer.

Shame it only has an IR remote. Due to physical placement in my room I would need to buy an IR remote control. Something like the BroadLink one I use in another room.

Why would you need to buy another remote? It looks like it comes with one:

I think you are missing an important part of what I said - 'IR'.

Based on previous experience with things like Topping IR remotes they do not work very well without a good line-of-sight to the device they are trying to control. Of course I'd test it first, but placement of the device in the room might be an issue.

I'm getting one of these to try out, and will report my impressions. Interested in seeing how it compares to my AO100 and the other small D amps I own. Having the two inputs plus really good BT seem like a nice feature set for casual listening with multiple sources, and enough power for a medium sized room...

Just bought the Aiyima 48v 10a power supply for my ZA3. Presumably no issue using it with this amp if I get one?

Back of the amp says 32 - 48v power supplies will work. They don't specify what power supply it's going to ship with, I'm guessing will be 48v6a or 48v10a.

I’m still surprised @Fosi Audio has not made a full width amplifier..
There are significant costs (much more so recently) associated with shipping and fulfilling larger items. Shipping and storage costs are by volume now, not weight... So without a functional reason for the width it's not surprising they would avoid it.

So, it's the 10th, should be released today? Edit: It's out

DX5 II works without pointing towards the device. Same with Fosi ZH3 DAC

The RC for my Fosi ZD3 manages to bounce off a wall and round a corner without much difficulty, but it’s only about 3 metres away.

I'm seeing US$229 (32V), $249 (48V/5A) and $269 (48V/5A GaN). Not sure where you're seeing the higher numbers?

Even with 20% early bird code (MAXSEB20) the net $200 price for the 48V/5A version is relatively pricey by Fosi standards. And this doesn't include any applicable tariffs and broker fees, which aren't prepaid by Fosi for U.S. shipments as far as I can tell?

Could be because I'm in Europe and the VAT is already part of the price?
In any case I don't need it myself, I think it seems like a good amp. Plenty of power, EQ, BT, remote, pretty cool design that stands out and isn't just another boring grey or black box..

Agree on it being a touch pricey, especially if you don’t need the high pass or multiple input. Not much reason to get this over the ZA3 for me (or even the V3 Stereo).

Some measurements with two different PSUs

Edit: There's also a part 1

At the given price point, it is difficult to see what the "job to be done" is for this Fosi BT20A MAX.
The opportunity to redesign the FOSI V3 with PFFB has been missed.
This design seems to come from the "Everything, Everywhere, All at Once" school of thought.
Please repeat after me: Less is more, less is more, less is more...

Curious how it measures and if the PFFB implementation is done well, but with the multiple inputs and tone control it's a very interesting device for my household, with our different needs and tastes. Hopefully there will be an option without power supply, I have enough of those laying around.
