Fosi audio i5 headphones coming soon

These headphones were shown in the Fosi demo room at Axpona 2025 that just ended. I have a small Fosi amp from years ago that have held up and performed admirably for many years and I went to their demo room (out of curiosity) and came across these headphones. Long story short, they're sending me a pair over the next few days including their most expensive amp/dac/whatever.

I normally listen to musc through my system that I've spent too much on - diff speakers for different genres and amps to match, etc. These planars sounded as good as my Focal Bathys and probably better for critical listening and equals those costing at least twice as much. What impressed me too is how well they are made - the planars are way bigger than most of what I've seen for under $500, extremely comfortable, quality cords/connectors that do not require further upgrade.

So here's the information you may be looking for. Release date is April 21 or 22. On either of those dates, their website announcing the headphones will have a button that will take you to the basket or checkout site where you wil get a 20% discount if you buy within a certain period. What's the retail cost? $549.99.

Not to mention that rise and dip from 80hz. Seems like a bad seal when measuring.

A LOT of Chinese brands have been coming out with planar headphones and IEMs the past several years. I have a hunch that there's an OEM making drivers readily available.

I was hoping for more. I jumped on the kick starter bandwagon. I'm more disappointed in the bass which drops at 70db, I wanted more. The zigzag usually can be fixed. Hard to tell without the other measurements. I just want to try a good open back planner headphone in a reasonable price.

That looks quite poor to me. It looks like an Abyss frequency response to me with the jaggedness. Looks hard to eq well. Pass!

This, more than likely, won't be the case with the actual production version .

Can't say anymore than that this headphone is comfortable, well built, pads will be available as spares, lets' just say that mine sounds quite good without EQ (= not equal to the pre-production version though) and low in distortion.
This thing is very big and weighs 527gr.
I saw Zeos talking about the wood not being real... it is real wood though. There is just a thick clear-coat on it that makes it look like it is plastic and initially thought it was all plastic too.
More than plenty of room for even the biggest ears. Ears won't be touching the baffle.
Clamping force is medium-low but due to the large contact surface (very thick walls) it does not clamp hard at all.

It is fairly sensitive (110dB/V) so when you want to play impressively loud you will need an amp that can reach 0.7W in 32ohm. When one only wants to play comfortable loud 200mW/32ohm is more than enough.

The cable is.... well... buy a supple aftermarket cable of the needed length.

Apparently they’ve received a bunch of feedback about the lack of sub-bass and they’ve decided to make a revision to the tuning.

Not sure how I feel about a sudden change in design mid campaign…

Why are they fine with that jaggedness. I'm definitely expecting it to be quite audible.

Does anyone know of the PEQ settings to flatten the freq response of the i5? I'm debating on what I will use to drive them. Either a basic dac/headphone amp or my RME ADI2 DAC FS which has peq built in.
