Fosi’s attempt to Active Subwoofer: SW10

Even in that price range there's lots of alternatives - from manufacturers actually specialising on speakers and subwoofers, and not the very first model from a young electronics company who happen to stray into speaker territory now. You can always find good deals if you look around. Like this open box offer, just as an example.

Not everywhere in the world one can buy RSL. Like said, I bought it for 263 EUR, which is ok for what is offered. I am not impressed, fails the real lower end, would not buy again
I hear you but I think you missed my point.. which simply was that it's not worth this price.
There are even more expensive worthless subwoofers as well in this world.

I just hoped you would have simply asked about some good options around that price mentioning your location/region.... It would have encouraged more knowledgeable (than me, for sure) forum members share some good options.

My Canton Sub 601's amp just broke (it constantly plays a 1-2kHz sine wave and smells a bit burned when active).

Would this Fosi sub be a decent replacement or should I just get a Fosi Mono Amp and use my Canton as a passive sub?

How about trying to get a replacement amp? With a bit of luck, Canton might be able to sell you one.

I will ask them. But if it's too expensive I'd be more comfortable to get a new and better sub. BK electronics would probably be a good alternative as well

I do not regret I bought them, it was more impulsive and wanted to try and gave in on the discounts I got. As said, they are not that bad, but in time I will sell it and get a XTZ.

If you like it then its all that matters.
To me, It sounded like those HTiB type sub and good enough to add some 40 - 100Hz volume.
OTOH, it looked really nice.

Well like is not the correct word, I like my SVS SB-12NSD and my XTZ Sub 10.17 Edge, those I like ( in 2 different setups now). For my Office setup (SVS Prime Wireless) I needed bass. As said, impulsively bought this Fosi SW10. At that moment with all discounts I paid 263 EUR and that looked fine. After receiving them, yes they do look nice, but the XTZ looks much more nicer. Should have bought the XTZ Sub 8.17 at that moment (also blind), but the Fosi offer tempted me. And yes it sounds like a HTiB Sub, but is still way better then my brother´s Samsung HT Sub. If someone can tell me how good the XTZ Sub 8.17 (about 350 EUR) is, I might exchange for that one.

Unfortunately RSL is pretty expensive in Europe. What about the Kali Audio WS-6.2?

I've just purchased the Kali for integrating with a pair of Genelecs G Threes: really sound fantastic (for music) and go to under 30 Hz in small rooms.

Even at 2/3 of volume plus 2 room modes attenuated at -4 dB, It pressurizes my 30 m2 living room.

Thinking about buying a second unit

Thanks for the feedback!!

It must be a really strong sub for the money and the size!!

Did you ever consider the KRK S12G4? Wonder if it's better (it costs the same in Europe as the Kali)

No, because I needed a small sub, easy to change and carry. Limited to 30 Hz at low end, to avoid too much transmission trough the floor and walls (neighbors).

I considered the SVS 1000 Pro because is light (12 kg) and small enclosure. And the IK Multinedia iLoud sub, but this one is less powerful.

The KEF KC62 was not an option because out of budget.

Finally I decided to go for the Kali over the SVS, just because a personal preference towards no DSP sub (little bit irrational, but I prefer all digital in one side and all analogue in the other side, if possible).

Also I use the Kail in my office (I’m physical therapist), and the SVS has not grill protecting the cone, I use to practice exercises with my patients and fear kicking the woofer.

PS: the enclosure of the Kali, or their 2 coordinated woofers, is phenomenal. You cannot feel the less vibration on it, even at high volume.

I'm also a physical therapist and I have also the same fear with my patients kicking the woofer on the floor! Especially here, where my place is rather small.

The KEF KC62 is sky-high expensive in Europe, I agree. Too much money for what it is.

I think you made a good choice. Also the Kali is tall and doesn't take a lot of room space.

What a coincidence!
:)

Also have this problem of space, in case of needing an extra 50 cm x 2 m that occupy my pair of Genelecs and my sub, I can easily dismount the floorstands, range them, put the monitors over my bureau and the Kali in a coin...

I also tried the Genelec F Two last year, but I was not happy with how sounds. And price was astronomic, but is very light and robust. Despite being a Genelecs, I struggled to integrate It with the speakers, I returned to the dealer in Finland.

Conversely, It was easy to integrate the Kali even if I only have the mic of my iPhone. Under 300 Hz is more or less trustable, the result is very good to my ears.

Soon I will purchase a calibration mic, specially if I install a second Kali.

Did you finally get any subwoofer?

Coincidence yes! :)

Your Genelecs must sound amazing. I've read that this brand is of top quality, but the prices of their speakers (and subwoofers) are sky-high, yes. As for the calibration mic, it's a must. I also don't own one either but it's of vital importance for better, balanced sound.

Do you ever crank the volume up in your space now that you have a subwoofer as well?

I didn't get any subwoofer yet. I'm still searching for the right one, asking people on forums, emailing brands like SVS, Dayton etc. DIY option is very appealing to me, since I can have a box at the desired dimensions.

The Genelecs G Three sound very good, but their potential is fully developped with the subwoofer, now I'm discovering how good they are...

Free from the 50-85 Hz effort, they sound way more airy, although I'm still fine tuning the EQ around the crossover FQ.

I had many votes here to the SVS 1000 Pro, for the price point is one of the best you can get.

DIY option is quite interesting if you have the skills and the time to build It.

Usually I listen at 75 dB at 2.5 meters, and the 3 devices done well, the sub has more SPL per volt than the monitors so I have to low the volume.
