Forum policy on private messages

Hi all,
I am okay with a purely technical forum with very narrow or limited discussions, such as members helping members with technical matters. For example, I got great help when building subs. Any other discussion seems to devolve into repetition or irrelevancies.
On my own professional website, I blog and express strong viewpoints, and those who disagree do, in fact, hate on me elsewhere, but they can’t do it on my site. Since Amir owns this joint, more of a one-way push of info seems in order since it has grown in readership.
My two centivos. Please don’t hate on me for it; I already get plenty elsewhere.
ps

Folks, likely, no matter which forum you use, all messages simply go into a database, unencrypted. Any system admin with password of the database can read anything in there. Again, this is true of everyone using our platform, Xenforo, or Vbulletin, two major systems I know about. So don't use any forum communication for anything you want to stay secure.
There is a huge difference if a system gets hacked or someone (even worse the owner of the forum) just posts them.

Second, my rule that I have explained to the specific moderator is to expect any communication in private to be put front page of a newspaper! Disgruntled members frequently share what was said to them both here and in other forums. As such, we need to at all times remain professional and above board.
Definitely, but the break of professionalism from one side doesn't excuse any other.

Third, as noted, anyone can report a post. This is how we find out about spam for example with members going around wanting to sell stuff, advertise, cheat members. By OP notion these people should be protected which is absurd.
Reporting posts in forums is a function where they will presented to moderators who know of their important role of protecting the privacy of the affected members.

Fourth, "private" texts and emails are routinely used in trial as evidence. Once you send something to another person, it becomes theirs to share, or not share. If you threaten me in email, you think you are entitled to privacy and I am not supposed to go and tell the police about it? Or the local news? Or the owner of the site?
Which are very different things to what happened here.

Transparency .
More emotional response instead of thinking through what you are asking. I am doing my best to not let this drag on. It is emotionally draining for all of you as it is for all involved. I implore you to move on as I have.

Absolutely agree with that!

I joined this forum to learn more about the technical side of things and to contribute where I can based on what I’ve picked up over the years.
Pinned political statements have no place here, in my opinion.
And if keeping the focus on tech means introducing stricter rules around off-topic or non-technical content, I’m all for it. That’s what the forum should be about -at least for me.

Say what you want soon before I close this thread.

I am starting to think you all don't care about audio anymore. I need to spend my time managing the forum and doing reviews. :(
I do I do! More audio please!!!

That's sounding like an I don't want to .

True. You may have flushed our relationship completely down the toilet but I am trying to hold on to some of it by not sharing more of our communications than needed.

If I post the whole thing, what do you think will happen? You get your mod job back? Get my thread deleted? What exactly? How do you come out ahead?

I was more than happy to move on until you posted part of Mod X's response . I emphasise part . Did you not get a little tear too?

We can keep discussing this sad story about a forum host and three mods splitting up until the cows come home. Unlikely there will be satisfying answers for each and everyone. Or, we could look for a moment at what might be more important than wearing the motivation of Amir thin.

What do we want? Justice, whatever that might be here? Revenge?

Move on!

We get transparency not your narrative , not the picture you post . Let the light in and they can truly make their minds up should they care .

Your lapse of judgement doesn't mean i am going to follow. You all are welcome to quote what I have said in the same judicious way I did.
