For Magnepan .7, which is best subwoofer JL Audio E110 or REL T/7X?

Hi! I own a pair of Magnepan .7 Speakers. I have one JL Audio E110 Subwoofer and one REL T/7X subwoofer. I've been using the JL Audio subwoofer and have been happy with it. REL's just went on sale so I bought one. I'm 69 years old and ears have suffered a bit from all the front row rock concerts back in the 70's; just don't have a ton of confidence in my ability to A/B them.

Is there a general consensus on which one is likely to be a better subwoofer match for the Magnepans? If one is strongly preferred by the majority of folks, I'll use the other one with a set of bookshelf speakers. At Axpona last year, they were pushing the REL's but that could be because Magenpans were in REL's booth. My local dealer who sells Magnepans pushed the JL Audio and hates Chinese gear. At least now with one of each, I have a choice.

Thanks greatly for your opinion!

I used the .7 with a pair of smaller T/5x "subs". Everything blended together well after some adjustments. Not the deepest bass but it filled out the sound more. A year later I had a pair of T/7x's with different speakers. They went deeper but I had more difficulty with room integration. Have you considered SVS? I liked the entry level SB-100 Pro more than any REL, with the exception of asthetics.

There really shouldn't be any audible difference.

Thanks for the reply and opinion. Yes I did consider SVS but when the REL's when on sales for $100 off ($1,000), I decided to try them. All three of those companies seem to get decent reviews...

Thanks, with my ears, I figured I wouldn't hear a difference...any A/B'ing not sure if I could tell which was better. Both brands seem to have gernerally good reputations, even though the JL Audio ($2,000) is twice the price of the REL ($1,000)

When you consider matching speakers as you were, even really young ears should be unable to discern any audible difference. Assuming that both subs were equally integrated and being driven within their performance window.

So for older ears, with frequency content that we are less sensitive to, and probably not being driven outside of tolerable levels, there should be no opportunity for any audible difference.
