There are plenty of amplifiers and streamers available that are much smaller and lighter, take up less (or no extra) space—the same applies to their packaging—and cost under €2,000 combined, with some configurations even coming in under €1,000 or €500.Let's count 'em up!
1. Extra components shoe-horned into diminishing shelf spaces.
2. Extra cables.
3. Extra lifting and moving, which will not do my hernia a bit of good.
4. Extra shipping boxes for my ready-to-explode-as-it-is closets.
5. Extra stuff for my estate's executor to figure out how to sell when I croak (can't be too long!). There's a whole thread about this on the Steve Hoffman forum, and I really feel sorry for that executor, who knows zip about hifi and has dozens of pieces he is legally obligated to deal with.
Additional contributions welcome.![]()
That's a very reasonable post, Redacted—with a hilarious stinger at the end.I don't think we buy hifi on the basis of worrying about being dead.
Although many on the Hoffman channel seem to be able hear voices from heaven.
No, I'm 70 next year, and getting ready for my long dirt nap. Although, I was in bed shop yesterday (thinking the long guarantees on mattresses were not important to me any more), and the shop assistant asked my age, and he was unable to stop himself expostulating, wide-eyed "Fuck me, you're sprightly". I kid you not. It's what the ladies all say tooThat's a very reasonable post, Redacted—with a hilarious stinger at the end.
But may I guess that you are a relatively young-ish person? Since i entered my advanced age, I'd say that many—if not most—of the decisions I make in life are made with a consideration for making things easier on my successors after I'm pushing up the daisies. It's remarkable how our thoughts change as we get, well, closer to the end. Not to bring the room down or anything!![]()
With that being the case, all I can say is—I doff my cap, sir! Hilarious. This stuff is on my mind, but I'm not quite ready to cancel my Book-of-the-Month Club membership! I send all the women I don't fancy to Jagger. I see them buying tins of salmon in Lidl, and I give them his card. I'm a bit of a Ghislaine Maxwell for elderly rock stars. With that being the case, all I can say is—I doff my cap, sir! Hilarious. And lest I be accused of derailing this thread, let me say that I really am very happy with my EVO 150 totally apart from its practical virtues.
