I have a digital music library stored on my PC. I want to take it with me in the car so I copied it on a USB stick (car can read up to 2TB).
I created several playlist (m3u8) containing only files from this library, using Foobar2000. The problem is that when I save these playlists all songs are referenced with absolute paths. When I copy the library to the USB stick these paths don't work. They need to be relative paths.
When I ask Google, it says that Foobar2000 will save the m3u8 playlist with relative paths. Clearly it doesn't. Am I missing a setting somewhere? Is Google wrong? Do I need to update my Foobar2000?

Don't know anything about Foobar but if you say "copied" or " save these playlists" you are likely doing the transfer to the stick outside Foobar.
Using Musicbee, I use the sync option inside Musicbee to transfer to a SD.
Wouldn't be surprised if Foobar offer a sync option allowing you to transfer both tracks and playlist to a specific root on a SD

You need to save the playlists into a parent folder of the folder containing the actual files, and then maintain that structure when copying to the flash drive.

Example from the test I just did:

- These particular files are stored in e:\music\albums\AC DC\Back In Black\
- Had foobar save the playlist to e:\music\albums\test.m3u8
The resulting playlist looks like this

#
AC DC\Back In Black\01. Hells Bells.flac
AC DC\Back In Black\02. Shoot To Thrill.flac
AC DC\Back In Black\03. What Do You Do For Money Honey.flac
AC DC\Back In Black\04. Given The Dog A Bone.flac
AC DC\Back In Black\05. Let Me Put My Love Into You.flac
AC DC\Back In Black\06. Back In Black.flac
AC DC\Back In Black\07. You Shook Me All Night Long.flac
AC DC\Back In Black\08. Have A Drink On Me.flac
AC DC\Back In Black\09. Shake A Leg.flac
AC DC\Back In Black\10. Rock And Roll Ain't Noise Pollution.flac

I saved the playlists in a separate sub-folder. Maybe that makes things extra/unnecessarily complicated.
I'll try saving them to the parent folder of the library.

There's something wrong with the USB stick that I'm saving the library to.
So no luck testing the playlists when they are stored in the parent folder. But savinf the playlists there on the PC drive does change the absolute paths to relative paths. So I would expect it to work.
I hope the stick isn't dead (works as a ROM now, can't write anything on it).
