Focusrite Scarlett 16i16 (4th Gen) Self-Measurements

Thanks, but I went back and forth so many times with those settings, it drove me nuts. :D Just couldn't get it to work.
Did you end up confirming it worked with your 16i16?

I could not be bothered to be honest, my cable is truly broken, I've tried it on my CD player going to a receiver and it also did not work there... There's barely any light going through

Focusrite's optical inputs seem to be ADAT only, not SPDIF. I could not get my 16i16 to accept SPDIF optical input no matter what settings I selected in the control software.
I thought my TV's optical out was broken, but when I switched to a different DAC, it was fine.
Try 48 or 96k, S/PDIF clock source, Optical digital port mode

And a simple routing

Yes, it is possible to use all analog outputs simultaneously. You can add outputs to both 'Main' and 'Alt' monitor groups. Here I am clicking the Edit button to do so.

Hey thank you so much! That was really helpful!

Silly question but do these settings get saved onto the scarlett device itself? Such that when I plug the scarlett into another pc or host, that it will use these settings that I created?

@SMJH does the device support setting coax spdif out as a main out, and control the digital volume attenuation using the physical volume knob?

You cannot control digital output volume, no. Best you can do is assign S/PDIF IN to an analog OUT. Go to Preferences and make sure Digital port mode is set to ADAT. Then in Routing, any source you add to Monitor groups will be controlled via the knob. Select Digital Inputs > S/PDIF 1-2 as your Source for Main.

Digital Outputs are completely separate, you can't add them to monitor groups, and you don't even get a static attenuation option for them.

@SMJH can you explain the measurements ?
Is it good interface?
I saw that amirm didn't recommend the 2i2

> The measurements for my 16i16, even when using its own consumer-grade ADC, are very close to the manufacturer specs (N+D -112 dB), which surpass the 2i2. (N+D -109 dB)
Furthermore, as far as I can tell, it did not exhibit distortion at lower volumes.

> The headphone output is stronger than the one found on the 2i2. As per the manufacturer:

2i2
32mW into 33Ω
22mW into 300Ω
16i16
57mW into 33Ω
27mW into 300Ω

It's still a weak output at higher impedances, however, from personal experience, it can drive the 130Ω Ohm HD 490 Pro well, though with no more than 5dB of headroom for EQing the bass.
No complaints whatsoever with my 33Ω headphones.

Those were the main points that ultimately lead to amirm not recommending the 2i2.
