Well it's always nice to have options. But most likely will never happen because I think Sony asks for a licencing and companies to pay to use it.
Aptx-HD would make more sense actually.
Also, most LDAC compatible devices cast their LDAC in 330kbps which actually gives a worse sound than SBC and APTX.

AAC on iPhone is equivalent to LDAC 909 kbps in sound quality and more stable than LDAC.

An added complication is that Apple is starting to move away from "traditional" AAC with their AirPods, but don't really clarify what they're doing. You can get a hint of it in the MIDI settings where AirPods may use a different sample rate than other AAC sinks connected to the same Mac, or in some contexts seem to be able to have lower latency than usual.

Then there's this, which leaves me with a lot of questions :
