Wow, this goes back to 1973 and they just found out about it? This must be one massive recall given the length of time and huge number of models. thanks for letting us know.

What is the average lifespan of those; I thought that after a certain number of years they needed to be refilled?

I have one from 1991 and one from 1994, both indicate as being good still, one uses a button that if it pops back out when you push it its good and the other a gauge. I had not kept track of how old they were.
