Hey everyone,

I’m usually the "tech guy" in my friend group, but I’ll admit, audio gear isn’t my strong suit. My friends and I are setting up a "Proberaum" (rehearsal room) that’s about 25sqm in size. They’ve tasked me with finding suitable speakers, but I could use your advice.

Here’s the deal:
The speakers will serve two main purposes:

  1. Producing and DJing (Hobby Level):
    • Distance to the speakers will be around 1 meter.
    • Planning to mount them on something that allows rotation for flexibility.
  2. Casual Listening:
    • For this, the speakers will be rotated to face the room.
    • They need to handle mid/high to high listening levels at a distance of around 3.5 meters.
Budget:
  • Ideally, looking for pairs under €1000.
  • If great options exist under €750 or €500, I’m all ears.
  • New or used recommendations are welcome.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi @Maffin! Welcome to ASR.

I'd recommend you look into 8" studio monitors: Link

Four of them have been measured:

The IN-8's combination of 8" woofer and Coax mid/tweeter would make it more suitable to both nearfield and midfield use.

Edit:
Here's a THD comparison using the data above:

The Adam has the most capable woofer while the JBL has the least. The Kalis are in between.

Cudos Muffin Cheers for providing the details that make recommendations easier! If you can find a used pair of Event Opals used.
Oldies but pretty damn good. I'm heavily biased. But if you can find a pair of 10 in Tannoy dual conentrics. Passive @ your max price point. But you might just be impressed. And you have more chance as you appear to be somewhere in europe of snatching a pair. Like I always say Audition audition audition. For what you want to do Don't skimp on the window into your craft. The cleaner & clearer that window the better what you do will be :). I would max your budget if possible for higher resolution options.
