Having been using YouTube on the TV, for some video viewing, to entice my eyelids to close, and finding their commercial interruptions to be remarkably loud versus more "professionally" endowed content, I set a limit.
Somehow, don't notice any degradation, but the levels become much more regular.
The compression starts at the top of the "normal" range, and does a good job squashing the annoying stuff without further annoyances.
The bright green on the meter says it is cutting 8dB at the instant of the screenshot.
