The packaging of Final b1 is very simple, with a black silicone soft earphone case inside a white cardboard box, along with ear tips, earphone cable and earphone body.
The b1 casing is made of stainless steel, with a weight of 7.5g per earphone, making it solid and weighty.
The whole body of the earphone shines in gold, giving it a sharp and angular appearance. The official claim is a "three-point support" design to make the earphones more stable to wear and adapt to a wider range of ear shapes.
The cable is replaceable and comes with a silver-plated copper cable with MMCX connectors. The driver unit is a combination of balanced armature and dynamic.
Let's look at its sound performance.
frequency response:
Final b1 has a relatively large gain in the middle-low frequency, with a maximum amplitude of up to 10dB, and a gain in the high frequency starting from 6KHz. However, there is a high-frequency roll-off starting from 13KHz, making it a headphone that sounds very thick.
distortion:
the distortion performance of the left ear at a normal sound pressure level of 86dB is quite good, with a total distortion level of less than -50dB, lower than the ambient noise level. The low frequency is also relatively clean. However, the distortion data of the right ear has an obvious mid-range distortion peak, which increases by nearly 20dB compared to the left ear. Although this narrow-band distortion peak may not be noticed, it at least indicates that there is room for improvement in quality control.
Let's enter the Cuckoo Studio mixing space. the significantly increased middle and low frequency makes the low-frequency instrument volume of b1 very large, which also affects the foundation of vocals and instruments, giving the instrument a thicker sound and a sharp listening sensation. The high frequency gain and attenuation are almost the same, so there is no particularly obvious reduction or increase in high frequency. However, the sense of air has become a sharper listening sensation. In terms of ear consistency, there is an overall 2dB bias in the right ear below 2KHz, and because it is not a narrow-band bias, the sound characteristics of bias can still be noticed when listening to music. Due to the presence of the mid-range distortion peak, the cleanliness of the playback is affected to some extent, but not significantly. However, the noticeable sound characteristics of bias still affect the sense of space of the instrument. The heavy middle and low frequency and the high-frequency roll-off make the mid-high frequency details not particularly prominent.
Overall, the b1 provides a good design concept, but its sound quality at a price of $699, is obviously not sufficient. We hope that the brand can continue to improve its quality control.
