Fiio K13 R2R - Owners Thread

but they have at least mentioned what could possibly be true in a few cases if not all.
The explanations were all straight out of the 'advertising buzzwords manual'.
But ... all manufacturers seem to have a similar marketing blurb dictionary.

Where - I didn't spot anything.
Like when buil-in psu is
not-so-good (didn’t want to use the word sh****)
or not integrated well enough
or malfunctioning

It could e cheaper fix for someone’s ultra uber expensive equipment when in need.

Some marketing BS is just unavoidable…..

They are the sellers after all.

None of that though is going to be the case when the device it is used with already measures perfectly (or close to it)

Or, such as this one, which measures as well as can possibly be expected given the technology being used.

Fiio seems to largely be well engineered and well made. The chances that their power supplies are so terrible you could get a big difference from another power supply by them is near zero.
Yes, that’s so true power supplies do not make a difference here!

What is important to realize here is that the analog section and even the DAC part (including the reference voltage of the R2R section) are NOT directly fed from the external nor internal power supply.
Instead both of these power supplies feed DC/DC converters that in turn feed their own linear regulators/reference voltages nor does the PCB layout not change nor any of the components.
In fact the only thing that changes is the (regulated) power supply which will be 12V for the external and internal one.

This is simply about selling an extra box with matching looks and giving the customer the happy feeling of 'having the best'.
This usually helps with perception (sounds better without actually changing anything but the mindset of the listener).

Yeah, i didn't have complaints with inner supply tbh, so i am ultra close to return PL80....

I had been considering returning the Fiio K9 ESS Pro I bought and getting a K13. I am going to use it in the bedroom and the K9 pro is over kill, how ever I really like it.

Darkside Pro returned successfully, got myself Simgot Supermix4 IEM instead, and can focus on just musical stuff, rather than toroids, watts, and buzzwords, lol
