@yafengabc yup, soundcard also has ADC but the specs not good enough
My original purpose was to measure the multi tone performance of my DAC and see if FRANSON's product has improved compared to JA11. But after learning about the price of the testing instruments, I gave up on this. I would rather spend an additional $4 on a JM12 than test this $4 USB dongle@yafengabc yup, soundcard also has ADC but the specs not good enough
Another question, if I have a USB sound card or Cosmos ADC device, what software should I use to measure THD, multi tone, and other tests?@yafengabc yup, soundcard also has ADC but the specs not good enough
you can use:Another question, if I have a USB sound card or Cosmos ADC device, what software should I use to measure THD, multi tone, and other tests?
I ordered the Jcally, 3 questions if you are willing to reply:it worked, and better than auth JA11 LOL
JM12 with JA11 firmware:I ordered the Jcally, 3 questions if you are willing to reply:
- are improvements really noticeable when flashing fiio's firmware?
- does it introduce any bug or malfunction compared to stock?
- is it possible to backup or download somewhere jcally's firmware in case of rollback?
Thank you very much if you would like to reply!
Be mindful of the price category here. It’s not like you are at risk of bricking a $1,000 piece of equipment…Thank you! It scares me a little bit there is no backup, but if everything is improved and we can also use FiiO's app and PEQ, it's worth the risk I guess![]()
Hey maybe this would be possible to copy the files that you will find on a device using Windows explorer, after inserting device into laptop USB socket, and then just putting back these files in case you find out it stops working after update? I dont know...Sure, but a brick is a brick and replacement would take 15 to 20 days regardless the value, so if it can be avoided...
That is not how firmware works - the files are not accessible - can only be overwritten updated with a special utilityHey maybe this would be possible to copy the files that you will find on a device using Windows explorer, after inserting device into laptop USB socket, and then just putting back these files in case you find out it stops working after update? As for the master gain not saving, are you sure it's not just reporting as zero? Mine was doing that but then when I move the slider around and then back to zero it would definitely change so the old preamp was still being applied despite the app showing something different.Okay guys done and done. I can also confirm that jcally JM12 can easily be updated with 1.7 JA11 firmware. It works.
What seems weird for me is that when i save PEQ to defice each peak is saved but for some reason master gain is never saved.
1: By the way does it matter for my sound quality?
Hey i remember about that funny x2 multiplication in frequency on setting a PEQ peak, so did you find out if its already fixed in the 1.7 firmware?
2: we still need to first divide all peaks frequencies /2 and then add the peaks to the app?
3: how is the loudness on your iems through ja11? without peq it seems just a little bit too silent for what i like. I can push it up using eq but as a default i listen on max loudness and that seems weird to me. how is it in your ja11?
Does the bug only occur with PEQ, or does graphical EQ also have the same bug?yes, everything fine as JA11, also x2 freq bug![]()
No, the graphic you see in the app is according to the PEQ that you input, it is the actual frequency response that is wrong.Does the bug only occur with PEQ, or does graphical EQ also have the same bug?
ok thanks for the confirmationNo, the graphic you see in the app is according to the PEQ that you input, it is the actual frequency response that is wrong.
BTW fiio acknowledged the bug and said they will fix it in a future firmware update.
