What were you using to drive? Those cans have quite different impedences. You would need something quite beefy to drive a few of them, and the shop may sometimes just have a small portable battery-powered dac amp (from personal experience).

Douk Audio U5-Pro amp (best portable amp I can find) fed by a cheap chinese Shmci C60; remarkable sound quality for it's price, just don't use the internal amp.

That's actually a very good and simple design.
Fully balanced with BUF634 output stage (the U5 PRO) and good measurements as well.
XLR and Pentaconn out.
Some should send on in to Amir for testing.
No output protection and linear volume control.
It is not portable though (no internal batteries) but is very small (as small as can be).

It works just fine with a small portable power bank.
