Very light weight also, Im tempted, seems like a fun product easy to wear

The FR has its peaks and dips that would make it a mediocre product, but the eq can actually fix most of it

Super did 2 EQ profiles

I would stick with similar Koss wired one and FiiO's if you like BT portable DAC (BTR 13/15). Of course with any on ear/earphones there is no seel and first octave.

It is way more practical to have a single device and no wires to worry about.

Look interesting. The EQ profile with -12db preamp has me worried though. My Xiaomi phone has auto volume limit (only allow 50% max volume for bluetooth devices) so this may render it unusuable for me if i want to EQ properly. Still will take a look at it this weekend at my local audio shop. May pickup a pair for my wife if she likes the colors.

Well i went and got one. The stock sound is kinda unimpressive. A bit of EQ does make it sound much better (i'm using superreview Diffuse field EQ).
Is it as good as my Maxwell or Para 2? No. But it is comfy, the sound is pleasant and using it while working feels much better than those 2 thanks to its low weight nature.
My wife also really like its design and convenient nature so she took it to work with her today. To me this is a huge win since i've been trying for so long to get her into the hobby (and failing).

In that case you should be able to just remove the preamp.

At least for my Fiio DAC: the preamp / master gain setting is only needed to prevent clipping at higher volumes. So if the maximum volume you can get from your phone + maximum effective gain of your EQ is less than or equal to the maximum volume the headphones internal DAC can do, it should be ok.

Honestly, as a long time Koss truther, I gotta admit the tether is pretty impractical. Even compared to Porta Pros with modded wires/MMCX connectors, the self contained form factor was appealing to me, so I thought I might as well give these a go!

My pair just arrived today and I'm quite happy with them after tinkering with the EQ a bit. Build quality is maybe slightly better than Porta Pros, but they're not quite as comfortable without the front-back swivel, clamping force is pretty light, however, so that somewhat helps it's case.

At their price, these are an absolute steal, especially considering they're actually significantly cheaper than a pair of Porta Pros here in Australia.

Also yeah, I'm on a Xiaomi too and I can run those EQs on +1db without clipping. (bugs/incomprehensible design choices like this are starting to happen way too often, idk wtf they're doing at Xiaomi)

What's the sound leakage like? Been a looooong time since I've used a pair of on ears, but these do look interesting...especially the walnut ones.

I mean, they leak like an open back headphone. Pretty comparable to koss leakage, if not marginally less. I don't particularly have a huge problem with it, in a quiet classroom I can get away with turning the volume down to a volume which is still quite pleasurable without the leakage being much louder than someone shuffling paper next to you. Equally, the isolation is really only handled by those little foam pads, so using these in a busy city street will mean you hear most things going on around you, I kinda like that though.

I wouldn't hesitate if I were you, I'm seriously considering buying another pair JUST to gift to people, they're really awesome, honestly.

Well he added 12db @ 35hz so it makes sense otherwise it will distort. Also that seems just for testing purposes usually EQ doesn't go that much, maybe just a few db in most cases.

How do you think the sound quality of these would compare to a budget pair of Bluetooth buds with anc and flac support like the Soundcore liberty 4 nc or similar?

I am quite happy with these on-ear headphones! I use them with my iPhone using a Fiio Air Link for LDAC support (though the AAC codec option on the iPhone doesn't sound too bad), and use Super Review's Kemar DF PEQ from the Online options, and they punch way above their weight (pun intended) for such a lightweight and open design. Highly recommended as a stocking stuffer! (I plan to give these as presents, though I'll open them and preload the PEQ first!)

They're gonna be a completely different experience to something with ANC, but that's what I kinda love about them, they're sort of in a league of their own at this price.

I can and do reach for these a lot more frequently than my cheapo Moondrop Space Travel or Soundpeats Free2 Wireless. If you REALLY need ANC and low leakage, yeah, these probably aren't the headphones for you, but I reckon people tend to think they need those features more than they actually do.

Yeah I tend to agree. I only very recently bought the liberty 4 as I hadn't had a pair of nc buds for a while and thought they'd be good for work, walking the dog etc. They're quite good but I'm already feeling like i don't really need or particularly like active nc in the majority of casual listening situations

I have both the transparent with orange pads and black with black pads, and the transparent one seems to have better sounding results with the Kemar DF PEQ, while the black seems boomier and darker sounding on the same EQ. Strange. It could also be that the black is the latest revision, as the transparent one was from an earlier batch.
