The guy who wrote the software, Audio Analyzer Suite to run the Digilent Analog Discovery 3 hardware for testing amplifiers, did a thorough going over and modified this little 6J1 preamp with a 39 page PDF on the process:

Wow! He made a good job and got virtually same results.

Hopefully the kit I tested has had foil capacitors as coupling capacitors, not the MLCC ceramics.

Another 6J1 where they swapped out the anode resistors for very tiny output transformers to make a headphone amp. It worked but was too "Bright" (bass lacking) I wonder if bigger sized OPT would have satisfied.... could make for fun modification.
