Here is a glowing review of the One Mic recording "Don't You Cry" from Carmen Gomes Inc.

album is available from these distributeurs;
https://carmengomes.bandcamp.com/music (Redbook CD, Mp3, wav 44.1)
https://www.soundliaison.com/ (Flac, DXD, DSD)
https://www.nativedsd.com/albums/SL1030A-dont-you-cry ( DSD)
Hifi news and record review use the album for reviewing equipment;
the warmth and detail of this Quad amplifier is just as much in evidence with the immediacy of the single mike, single take recordings on Carmen Gomes Inc.'s Don't You Cry set [Sound Liaison SL1030A; DSD256]. Playing the music in from my stripped-out 'music' Mac mini via the Vena II's USB input, the sense of the musicians sitting in a group around the microphone is palpable, as is the emotion in Gomes's voice as she cracks on the final phrases of Gershwin's 'Summertime'.

It's a wonderfully intimate and affecting experience, and shows just what this little amplifier can do when fed with a high-quality recording.

Douyé is a singer with a treasurable low-pitched warm gentle voice.

The following songs are just a few from Douyé's third studio album "daddy said so". Every song on the album is beautifully sung and has stellar tasty accompaniment. Very well recorded.
Round Midnight
Autumn Leaves
Summertime
Besame Mucho
Nature Boy - this version is particularly mesmerizing, even among the crowded field of singers who have recorded each of these songs. It makes a wonderful album closer.

Douyé sings "Dindi" live with Angelo Metz on guitar. A studio performance of Dindi is on her fourth album "Quatro - Bossa Nova Deluxe".
"Lover Man" studio version from the fourth album. This is done uptempo, and boy does it ever groove.

Montserrat Figueras is amazing (sadly now passed), as is her daughter Arianna Savall. Montserrat Figueras married Jordi Savall and had 2 kids, they are all amazing musicians. If you do not know them, I recommend you seek them out. It is early Catalan and French music mostly, usually excellently recorded by Erato.

Here are some examples from Montserrat Figueras:

One of the pretty faces and pretty voices I like the most:

Hanna Reid (London Grammar) covering "Wicked Game".

Singer and actress Warda Al-Jazairia, usually known simply as Warda (which means "rose"), was born in Paris, France and was of Algerian-Lebanese heritage. She recorded her first album for Pathe-Marconi at age eleven. "Batwanis Beek" (which translates to something like "I love being with you") linked below, is I believe her masterpiece recording, with lyrics by Omar Batiesha and music by Salah El Sharnoubi, although it appears to be just another simple love song. Warda's record of the same title was released in 1992 when she was over 50 years old and during a late come-back in her career. The song runs to over 14 minutes, and the instrumental preamble or prelude is itself three minutes long (about the length of your typical radio-friendly pop song). There is a marvelous marriage of singing and accompaniment, and Warda achieves a timeless quality in her music-making. At first listen, the song sounds repetitive, but on deeper appreciation it is apparent that there is large-scale structure, and through her superb control of inflection and her rapt involvement, Warda is able to develop the musical argument unceasingly over eleven minutes of singing to its logical conclusion, without recourse to artifice. A translation into English of the simple lyrics can be found at http://www.shira.net/music/lyrics/batwannes-beek.htm.

A spectacular voice and a great songwriter.

Neko Case - Fox Confessor Brings The Flood

I had the opportunity to see her perform in Antwerp and the following song was a moment of pure transcendecence. Backing vocals by Kelly Hogan who's a no mean singer in her own right.
