Quercus - Quercus (2013)

June Tabor (vocal), Huw Warren (piano), Iain Ballamy (sax)

Everything that June Tabor has recorded is well worth hearing - and this album is way up there with her very best work. Beautifully sung and played and an excellent recording. Allmusic review

I've got another great one: Alice Russell. In the 2000s, she was omnipresent on soulful club tracks on Tru Thoughts, Ninja Tune and others. You can get an idea of her voice's power in her take on Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy":

Grace Davidson's new recording of Hildegard von Bingen's works is fantastic in both performance & sound quality. My prior favorite of these works, Gothic Voices performed by Emma Kirkby is still great but this new album is just mind blowing beautiful.
Youtube doesn't do the sonics justice, but you can find this album in the usual places.

First and foremost, I absolutely love the tone generator in this woman so she gets the front row on my little list-->
