Female Vocals: Stunning Recordings You Love

These are all greats so far, and you might want to skip this input if you want to stay in the old mellow mood, but this gal, she has a unique voice and I love her inflections, breaths and all. Aimee Duffy-warwick avenue, mercy

This album by Elkie Brooks on CD sent shivers down my spine first time I heard it ... the ultimate late night, lights down low, glass in your hand, lounge lizard material - I don't think I've heard better for generating that sort of mood ... brilliant stuff, IMO ...

Hermeto Pascoal and Aline Morena (Hermeto's wife)

He's an acquired taste that I've acquired. It's not that many people that play keyboards with such stubby little fingers.

There are three Duos disks, all good. If you like this sort of thing go buy them. I did.

Badi Assad - comes from a musical family, Sergio and Odair Assad are her brothers but restrict themselves to more formal material.

Badi (pronounced Ba-ji) is a little more accessible, more on the Bossa Nova and sometimes Brazilian pop.

Her guitar playing is about as good as anyone I've heard. Adventurous and accurate.

You might have noticed I'm interested in some of the music of Brazil.

Probably get slaughtered, but I still like the original Sheffield Amanda McBroom album...

I've 1 Amanda CD so I'm somewhat complicit. Once upon a time in these woods, we had this local old-style radio show, Andrew Marshall narrated Sunday afternoons, IIRC, he used to play these "audiophile" disks and they'd indeed sound quite good and refreshing, even over the radio, and the artist was generally foreign. That was my intro to Amanda.
