Glad to see others who like Chinese music here. I met Deserts Chang in Taipei in 2009 when she held a concert and cd release party for her album “城市” (city). I was the only foreigner there, and she smiled like nothing else when she seen me. I’ll never forget that smile. Still have my cd that everyone autographed, and the poster for it. I’m an American by birth, but Taiwanese in my heart lol.

And last but not least ...... the last CD I have heard 1000 times and more is the one mic recording, Carmen Gomes, from the small but fine dutch label Sound Liaison. Recorded using just one microphone (Josephson C700S), the recordings only allow small combos that can be placed in a circle around the mic. No mixing after the recording is possible any longer. With Great results!!

Carmen Gomes' voice is hot, hot, hot!!!!!!

SOUND LIAISON: EMBRACE ME
The label has just released another fine album with Blue Note recording star Denise Jannah adding her voice to 4 of the 6 tracks.
Marvelous musicianship all through the album. And again superbly well recorded by master engineer Frans de Rond, and recommended by Don Sebesky;
"There’s a lot of quality musicianship on this recording; it’s very clear. So very rare to hear a group of young people pick up on the vibes (of these standards) and be true to the music. God bless you…...Keep doin what you’re doin.”
- Don Sebesky

Their last recordings are only around 30 minutes ...... Way too short for the monies!!

I’ve searched the entire forum and it doesn’t seem like Emeli Sandé has ever been mentioned.

I’m not sure how well mastered her studio albums are (her latest sounded reasonable to me but I haven’t looked at numbers or graphs).

I saw her late last year in Cambridge. She has the best voice I’ve ever heard live, and I’ve heard a fair few.
