Since the latest forum software update a couple of days ago, there is a new header unter "What's new". Apart from "What's new", "New posts", "Your news feed" and "Latest activity", there is the additional "Featured content" field in the second level menu at the top:

It seems to be empty, presumably because @amirm or the admins would need to tag posts as "featured" to fill it. That in itself isn't really a problem, but the button has taken over the former position of the "New posts" button I use all the time. So now I tend to misclick and land on an empty page.

I know, I know: We will get used to it. I'm just old and grumpy and don't like change for the sake of change. Disregarding my grumpiness, adding an empty category to the site is just adding clutter to the UI. I would therefore suggest to remove the "Featured content" field and category alltogether, unless the site admins plan to use them. Hopefully, this is possible in the forum software.

I don't try to read ASR on my phone, suppose that's a thing.

I put a link to "new posts" on the whatever-it-is-called bar in the browser long long long ago.

Sorry, but missed this feature addition and this thread. I have some thoughts on some good candidate threads to be featured and so will try it out. The functionality is somewhere between pinning and promoting to home page. Moderators can pin but not home page promote. The new featured section is part of default moderator capability.

Am thinking the featured section may also be a useful place for home page candidate threads. Am open to other suggestions if members have other ideas for utilizing.:)

Don't want to waste a new thread so I'll post here:

There's something wrong with "Trending content", last one it appears to me is from 2022 with the last post made the same year.

(unless there's a new post from someone from my ignore list that I can't see)

Agree, mine is more stale than I would expect as well. @amirm?
