hello good people of ASR. I have finally built my acoustic panels. they are 4 inches deep. I have covered them with that weed control fabric which is black. I want to buy some fabric to put cover that. I was thinking of this: here.

It's quite costly to me, but am happy to pay the price. Just wondered what others are using. Also if there are any other useful tips for covering these panels which are 4 x 2 feet.

thanks in advance.

what I did (years ago when I didn'y have my curent PET panels) was going to a fabric store and tried to blow through the materials. they say if you can blow through, it wont reflect. though I can imagine that the threads might still be reflective depending on the material.

Not sure I understand: are you looking to replace or to cover the weed control fabric with another fabric?
The weed control fabric isn't exactly acoustically transparent...

It looks to be about 50-50 holes and plasticky material.
The fabric [linked] seems better, it looks somewhat more like hessian/burlap. Do a forum search, there are 1 or 2 links to sources for suitable fabric...[iirc] there is one that is similar in texture and colours to [here.]

I remember my late father unzipped cushion covers and slipped them over the speakers. He was experimenting with several materials before using the cushion covers. I supposed he liked how the speakers sounded after that.

OK it's a bit on the thin side...

Good. Not expensive. So, cotton muslin.

Yeah muslin / linen. You can buy specialist acoustic fabric but it seems overpriced to me. I would get a thicker version of what I put in the picture though. It's really really thin..
