There's evidence, probability and good arguments. Action and reaction.

IMO, truth is a fuzzy man-made concept, mostly used and abused in social settings.

Truth corresponds to facts. If an idea does not correspond to a fact, it is not a truth.

Is it a fact that you will experience pain if you smash your thumb with a hammer?

If it is, then that is a truth. If not ..... I'd like some pictures hung when you're available.

Today's "truth" corresponds to a certain number of theories validated by experience. Which can be called into question later with the evolution of science, which has slowed down considerably over the past 50 years.
