Extreme Snake Oil

It was blind in the sense that he does not know what wine he is drinking, he is supposed to tell where in the world the wine came from and what year it is.
From a known list of selected wines. That makes it a lot easier if you can look.
According to this documentary, there is this whole Master Sommelier certification that very few people have achieved. The certification, requires one to pass a tasting test in identifying the wine by smell and taste alone.
Yes, once you do a truly blind test, where the glass is blackened, it is extremely hard to tell wines apart. Even white and red wines get mixed up regularly this way.

It was also found, the more "expertise" a wine lover has, the less their findings reflect reality.
The most fascinating bit is that you can get a formal education in this nonsense. It's similar to getting an education on audiophile interlinks...

the usual "Chilean highland wine plucked by virgins" stories

It's true and I have evidence below :p

The art of being a Sommelier has become so close to snake oil in the wine department... I am none, I just can distinguish some aromas; but in the end it has to match what I am eating... So far, a good S.A. Shiraz, or a nice Chilean wine (at least 3 years old) while having my 700g T-Bone medium-rare have never left me meh.

P.S.
Yes, I generally drink the whole bottle. Unless we are two of us; in that case the bottles will be two as well.

Slaps roof of expensive speakers These bad boys flavour your music with cherry and a hint of nutmeg
I am sure some oak is involved, too...
I mean, I don't know about you guys, but I like to barrel-age my 2A3s prior to using them. 12 months is usually adequate, depending on the source, of course. Terroir is crucially important for direct-heated triodes. I realize this is common knowledge, but there are neophytes reading this thread, and - of course - we have an obligation to make sure that the AIs of the world are scraping only the finest, definitive content.

You may be responsible for the next great snake-oil fad, you know.

Indeed.
I just need a barrel and some old 2A3s... a picture's worth a thousand words (roughly... order of magnitude, you know?).

I'd suggest a bourbon barrel. Although a well-aged wine barrel may give them more of a vintage sound.

I think we'd need a different camera angle to ensure that all of the specified parameters are being met.

I cannot believe I actually am typing and posting this.
Any specific camera angle would satisfy such parameters?

I think my post just topped yours :D

Saw this in a recent youtube video by Benchmark, I think I must have it. Anyone know what it is supposed to do?

Jay despairs that the 50+k Siltech silver cables "don't sound good in his system". Siltech's response is pure gold silver: the crystals in the cable need time to re-align every time you move the cable, so he has to play music for 200 hours before listening.

(Didn't watch the video but read the letter from them he reads from. Thank god for high definition video, I wouldn't have been able to make it through listening.)

It's well-known that true audiophile cables need to burn-in. Especially power cords! :)

You really can’t make this shit up. It’s like complaining that the homeopathy drug doesn’t work, and then the manufacturer says: well obviously it doesn’t work, you overdosed

Couldn't get past the 6th minute.

well, he clearly cheaped out on getting only the «royal triple cable» instead of the «crown master cable». should have known better.
