World of audiophile accessories is alien to me but then I do have a sweet spot for actual audio eccentrics which may, sometimes, indulge in things esoteric - like this gentleman showcasting his system in rather old video posted on non audio related channel. I find it rather charming and genuinly interesting (and I want his CD player). Which makes me wonder where the line between hobby and madness lies

Personally, I subscribe to the belief that a fool and his money are easily parted. In my eyes, in todays society with readily available information literally at our fingertips, if you're an educated adult and you can't research whether a product is genuine or viable, then you are fair game. If it seems too good to be true it usually is.

Sadly (but not surprising) the only information they provide is endless exaggerated superlative marketing babble, silver traces and what super duper caps etc. they use and so on, but not one single measurement, no distortion data, nothing.
If it really is cost-no-object engineered and the best of the best like they say, how come there's no proper data? One surely would show it to proof the claims, and try to justify the price, no?

Compare that to something like the benchmark AHB2 & Dac etc for example and what reliable & honest data, measurements and even explanations of the used technology they provide. That also is not cheap and already overkill i think. But the "Luna System" costs 50 times or so more.

Didn’t watch the vid, cause I pretty much don’t watch vids, but the science behind sommeliers is actually really interesting. There’s a book called cork dork where a journalist who is interested in people with obsessions (wrote mostly about technology) trains to become a sommelier. The steps for identifying wine are legitimate and boil down to being able to tell the alcohol content, the sugar content, the main varietal, and the few legit tasting notes. She goes into how you train for each of these and the known science behind them. The pairing part is based on psychological reads of the customer and flavor profiles combined with knowledge of the stock.

Even as someone who doesn’t enjoy wine, it was a fascinating read.

I believe you, but that is not the video. The video shows a sommelier describing the aroma and tastes of wine with flowery adjectives and silly descriptors, which reminds me of audio subjectivists.

I am just an amateur wine collector and only of a handful of french regions. But I can say differences are real. A thousand times more real than comparing amps. And a million times more than comparing DACs.

But the wording is silly at times. The audiophools can match that though. The slob some hired goons make up for cable sound and speaker feet resides unmatched.

Years ago (if I remember correctly, may be centuries by now) there was a sidenote published about an DBT (double blind test), performed by 'Professional Wine Tester'; the result was completely random, some cheap wine was as often seen/tasted high grade and some hundreds bucks expensive ones as meh ....
