Extreme Snake Oil

I have been reading a thread Somewhere Else about fuses. I guess some folks just jumper out their fuses with copper bus bars and either take their chances or use some sort of (expensive) bespoke outboard protection. Gott in Himmel.
Magic fuses and their alternatives are like the last major step into full-blown audiophilia - the point where it goes from just being stupid to being stupid and dangerous.

Certainly on the bleeding edge, as it were. :(

Love the idea of beeswax fuses -- they sound so sweet and smooth!

Hello everyone!
<snip>
just checked out the last posted one (antiresonator ) and invite you to do so, too. That site is full of gems and totally worth a visit if you'd like to have a couple of entertaining moments
Welcome home!

I had to chuckle at this picture you provided.

There has to be a channel imbalance, no? They are missing a resimabob on that heat sink on the left! Thankfully they have the gold plated fuses for both channels.

Audio Files cracked me up hahaha

That's just the puck above. Oh yeah claiming that the same puck is used to detect gravitational waves lol. First time seeing gravitation waves as a marketing tool in the snake oil lalaland

$8000 USD + $2500 = $10,500 to have a fancy iso-pucks on top of your equipment :)

Find me a more extreme base board please :)

This is "informed glass" to block "smog".

Edit: same site: https://www.optimizeaudio.com/produkte/antismog-glas/

The blurb is too good not to quote:

''Viewed from the outside, this accessory looks like a banal glass. However, the material has undergone a special treatment - the so-called "information" - which ultimately brings about the magic.

The explanation gives the impression that the anti-smog glass is a mere voodoo. But it is not. Why should our company develop an accessory that does not bring about sound improvements? Antismog is a topic that - unfortunately - is currently receiving too little attention from science. With the sound progress achieved, OptimizeAudio only states that the anti-smog chapter has its justification in terms of high-quality sound of a high-end system.''

Maybe it's on the lower left side to compensate for lower frequency deficits?
Obviously has to be on purpose? Determined after a thorough vetting process of alcohol, pot whatever being consumed to fine tune the aural tastebuds for the precision listening session.

I mean pot does lower my critical facilities to the point where I don’t do anything needing actual logic, but it is the one tweak I know of that does nothing to change the signal but makes music sound better.

May be an opportunity to corner the market with some extremely high-priced, "audiophile" weed. Different strains to match different equipment or music genre. It will need at least a 200 hour break-in before critical evaluation.

I browsed a few reviews, and the degree of stupid and misguided is astonishing. At this point, high-end audiophilia is a fully fledged religion, including various schisms. These people are mostly at a point where reason cannot reach them anymore. I guess once you have invested tens of thousands into voodoo it is always easier to add another layer of obfuscation and rely on validation within the group than to admit that you have been duped.
The "reviewers" I guess get caught in a "catch 22"

Review a $100 DAC, streamer etc and no one will look sideways if you diss it....it's only a 100 clams so of course it will be on the crap side of the sound scale.

But review a very expensive DAC, streamer etc and given the general population of audiophools out there, you MUST give it a glowing review else your web site, youtube channel etc will blow up and lose hits and hence income.

To do otherwise is economic suicide.

Same goes for the established old skool magazines (stereophile, absolute sound and others)....the same population of audiophools equate $$$$$ with exceptional sound and are true believers in voodoo science...so to keep subscribers (and advertisers) you must give glowing reviews.

As an IT guy who has been dabbling in PC based audio playback since ~2003, my "sweet spot" for getting pissed off is in the computer audio space but I have learned just to breathe deeply and ignore this kind of stuff... you can't change stupid by pointing out the fallacies in the product in question on a forum populated by audiophools.

A light of hope…

Some do notice the silliness of these expensive power cables (and these particular power cables appear fairly reasonable to me).
