Extreme Snake Oil

You're supposed to fill it with local rocks and dirt. Chinese rocks and dirt don't work well with American electricity as any fule kno.

Better yet, buy the original from Entreq, it comes filled with 99% flat earth.

And it would add to shipping cost.
In the 1970s, when the costs of energy sources (fuel) skyrocketed and stagflation hammered the economy, many of the big Japanese manufacturers started making loudspeaker systems for the US market in the US. That, of course, saved the costs of shipping a large, heavy, but largely empty box halfway around the world. ;)

Pioneer's "Project" loudspeakers are a salient example.

I actually have a pair of the Pioneer Project 100A three-ways. They're -- a bit odd -- but actually sound pretty decent.

A cone tweeter and a dome MR, oddly enough. ;)

The top tweeter? midgrange? is rebirthed, maybe:
Mid-Tweater?

Pioneer's 2" cone tweeter was available for many years on the component market. It was not dissimilar to Peerless's 2" AlNiCo tweeter, which might have been the best cone tweeter ever readily available. :)
The Pioneer used a ceramic magnet (although earlier, similar Pioneer drivers used AlNiCo magnets).

This is where purely subjective uncontrolled reviews of gear really can let audiophiles down.

Just swallow the marketing claims, don't remark at all on whether the claims are technically dubious at all, listen and "hear" the difference, and lead other audiophiles
right in to the hands of these companies....

Which is why we need more Amir. Wish they'd send this product to ASR for testing :-)

So the cut to length 4D nail isn’t going to work??

I left a rather unflattering comment on that video yesterday

new to this forum, so HI.
i think i have come to the right place after just briefly browsing this thread.
have become so fed up on other forums where people are speaking about how much a "tuning" fuse helps their system.
i should not let it bother me but there are a lot of people who are basically being scammed by companies who make these and other things, and it is wrong.

Well old son welcome to the forum.
Retailers can’t actually make customers buy stuff ( more’s the pity) so the blame isn’t totally with the charlatans who make this but also with the technically ignorant who buy them.

Hi Keith,
i remember you from a few years ago (via PFM from memory)
you were kind enough to loan me the M2tech Young dac when it was 1st released.
i had the Meier Stagedac at the time.
both great pieces of kit but i remember i litterally could not tell them apart sonically, so kept the Meier.
i guess they were both of similar design.
imagine how i would struggle to notice a difference in fuses :D
cheers
Simon

As an electronics engineer I have my opinion regarding these premium fuses but... If they make such a difference why would equipment manufactures spend a fortune on developing products and not fit a fuse that could give them a clear advantage over their opposition? If they give such a clear improvement in audio quality why don't the companies that make premium fuses sell them on a sale or return basis? Many audiophiles may just try them on sale or return and if they give such clear improvements surely they would keep them and so increase sales of premium fuses. I guess if you want to buy them and you can hear the difference then who should tell you otherwise after all it's all about the enjoyment of music.

have noticed some fuses are "directional" also.
i have never understood why even cables are directional let alone fuses.

That is the perfect argument against most snake oil. If it is so amazing then why doesn't the high end stuff come with it.
Long before I found audio snake oil, I remember all the automotive stuff: magnets you put on the fuel line, gadgets you put on the distributor cap and all the additives that increased mpg. I always wondered why if this add-on could improve things so much then why did no manufacture include it.

If you believe that you'll hear a difference with the new fuse, then you will, regardless of voltages across the speakers' terminals.

Simon really nice to see you here, M2Tech thats a few years ago, M2Tech were undone because they hadn’t ensured that their USB coding was their IP, a lesson for all manufacturers!

On fuses:
a] Fuses are one item the an audiophile can do an ears only audition all by themself.
Put the assorted fuses in a hat. Unplug AC to the component. Eyes closed, reach in the hat, select one fuse, install fuse in component, open eyes, plug AC to component in and do the audition.

b] fuses are commonly used in three circuits:
1] AC supply 2] DC supply 3] Power amp audio output or in loudspeaker.
or in the audio output / speaker does a fuse have the slightest chance of being audible.

c] Bob Cordell in his book "Designing Audio Power Amplifiers" on page 375.
Was able with a great deal of effort, able to measure fuse distortion in an amp's audio output.
at 20 Hz he measured 0.0033 % distortion. less at higher frequencies.
This distortion is due to the fuse heating and cooling each half cycle and changes in its resistance.
