Vacuum tube testers were a thing when vacuum tubes were popular. It seems like the design objective was to make a tester with every kind of socket and complex switching to assign the pins to the test circuit for every model of tube.
There is an active market in salvaging old tube testers, and some upgrades with digital meters. Calibrating them would be nice.
There are a new generation of digital tube testers which are simplified, which reduces the price.
