Saw this over on Audiophile style. Very funny. Fake high end store sells footware for $250 to $400. People gush over the quality. Name of the store was Palessi. It was a stunt by Payless shoes. The footware sells at Payless stores for $19-$24. And yes they refunded the purchasers after it was all over.

And yet the audiophools still come here to bray loudly about their sacred cows and golden ears.

I know that there are some audiophool components available that are actually cases containing commoditized stock modules (maybe with more expensive caps and resistors to replace the stock ones. These "boutique" audio products can sell for similar outrageous prices, and have been mentioned here at ASR. Anyone remember any of them?

Given that amplifiers are increasingly about packaging OEM Class D modules in a box (apologies if that belittles modern amplifiers, and the concept is eminently sensible given the stellar performance of modern Class D modules) you'd hope we should see a general levelling in price, but I don't think it'll happen.
