Hi fellow WiiM users,

I wanted to share a fantastic resource I recently discovered, a web-based Parametric EQ configurator specifically designed for WiiM devices:

This tool offers professionally crafted EQ presets for various music genres and listening styles. It provides precise frequency, gain, and Q values that you can directly input into your WiiM Ultra's Parametric EQ settings.

I've been testing it with the Metal, Rock and Jazz presets and the results are impressive.

Highly recommended for anyone looking to optimize their WiiM's sound!

Best regards

Oh god not the genre-specific EQ presets

The Jazz/Reggae/Rock/etc. sound is already encoded into your tracks.
You don't have to create it using generic presets.

Or do you also switch your TV picture to "Drama mode" whenever one comes on, to get the full experience?

I apologize if my original post came across as promoting gimmicky genre presets. That wasn't my intention. I'm still learning about proper audio setup, and I was simply trying to share a tool that helped me with my specific EQ challenges. I thought it might be useful for others dealing with similar room or speaker issues.

That said, I'm always open to learning better approaches. If you have suggestions or experience with more effective methods for optimizing sound in a less-than-ideal listening environment, I'd genuinely appreciate any guidance. My goal is simply to get the best possible sound and enjoyment from my music with the setup I have.

Would anyone be willing to explain how to set up the WiiM EQ settings, please?

Without any adjustments, the sound feels lifeless.

My system consists of:
WiiM Ultra
Audiophonics AP300-S250NC
Teufel Ultima 40 Mk4 floorstanding speakers

Have you tried the RoomFit auto EQ? That would be a good place to start and would at least give you a basic idea as to how your room is affecting your sound.

I would suggest to stop fiddling with EQ before quantifying what the actual problem is. What does "lifeless" mean? What's the response from your speakers, and how is the room modifying that?

I've already tried RoomFit, but leaving the EQ untouched results in a dull, uninspiring sound.
I'm currently running settings I discovered online, which have significantly improved the sound quality. However, I'd be very grateful if someone experienced could help optimize them further for the best possible performance.

How am I suppose to find those information?

Wow, 4k onwards looks painful to my eyes. That must be quite harsh on the ears!

How am I suppose to find those information?
Is there any EQ preset being applied to this FR? The 4k onwards region seems very high and certainly wouldn’t be to my tastes. It could be how your speakers are designed or due to room reflections.

I’m still a learner driver myself but in RoomFit I would run Non-Boost mode across the entire frequency range just to see what results it brings. That >4k region needs flattening and brought way down IMO.

Thanks for clarifying. I'll perform the RoomFit calibration tomorrow without any EQ presets active, since it's too late this evening. I'll post the results here afterward.

Good luck, it could be caused by a number of reasons but there is a dip just after the 2K region and then it rises to frightening levels.

Definitely make sure there are no preset filters being applied before doing anything else.

I don’t know about genre settings, but I would like presets for old TV shows, DVD files, and various streaming sources.

That's fair. I was just listening to the Fantasia soundtrack to get some tracks for my christmas playlist and I was thinking that I didn't remember the recordings sounding that bad. Then I look further down and realize there are different versions and the "Irwin Costal Re-Record 1982" versions are much much better. There are definitely older recordings that could benefit from some EQ adjustment (though that will only help to a limited extent).

I've repeated the RoomFit calibration with no EQ preset active and running in No-Boost mode, and the results appear to be the same.

Possibly because you can only allocate 10 bands of EQ and it uses them up before it gets near the >4k region. Go into RoomFit settings and change the equalise settings to only affect from 3K onwards. Just to see what you think of the sound when the upper frequency follows the yellow target curve.

I would imagine the sound profile will become much more listenable. If you like it, take a screenshot of the filters it applied, then change the settings of RoomFit to target the 35-400hz region and then manually apply PEQ filters to the >3K.

That looks much better, I would have min gain set to minus 12 as you have some regions that need pulling right down. How does it sound to you?
