I own one since April last year, and have since been constantly listening to it an average of 2 hours a day.
I am extremely satisfied with its resolution and detail retrieving.
Using it through USB from my RPi-based player, and optical from my Sony TV.
No cons at all. It's a DAC and it does its job perfectly.
Thanks. I am getting back to hi-fi after a hiatus.
Just completed an amplifier build, pre should be finished soon. I am using old'ish Chinese dac 9 by Weiliang (fed straight from my laptop), modified with opamps and caps upgrade.
I want to try a new incarnation of the digital-to-analogue stage, what the market has to offer.
Z8 is on my radar.

Maybe consider the DMP A6 Streamer with built-in DAC. Similar DAC performance + a streamer w/ local file storage. A bit more expensive but you get a streamer to boot! Eversolo also now offer it's big sister the DMP A8. You will need to shell out a few more bucks to snag it though. Close to $2000.

It is slightly better than the one in the A6.
Both are very transparent, anyway, so there will hardly be any sound quality difference detected by the average human ear...
I do not own any A6, but I do a Z8, hooked to a RPi4 and I am extremely satisfied with its sound.
HTH
Thak you. I was toying with getting an A8, but that is considerably more expensive. This way, I can add a competent streamer a bit later and still save hundreds of dollars at the end of the day.
I own one since more than a year. Extremely satisfied.
Hooded to a 2.1 active monitors system + RPi4 with moOde player. Not a fancy setup, but enough for both my relaxation and critical-listening "sessions".

Hey guys do you think this dac is still worth it or are any better alternatives for this price point? I can find it for 699 euro.
I was thinking in go with the RME ADI 2 DAC but is twice the price and I wont be using anything about it (no headphones, I will use DIRAC so no EQ, and so).
please help with a question. I don't like the DAC sound at all , it feels empty and dead. I prefer the GSX1000 or Asus mkII sound for my surround also. I want to use the z8 eversolo as AMP only. can I do that ? the gsx1000 have only 3.5mm ports 1 for speakers 1 line out but it doesn't transfer vss, and headphones. usually I plug the 3.5mm headphones to the mayflower amp and from there to headphones. but I have no idea how to do that with the z8 eversolo with dac/amp. how can I passthrough the DAC?
I tested with HD800s and utopia 2022 , both just sound sad and empty.
