Eversolo T8 Digital Transport!

Can it record music and compare them? I don't think sine waves will do the trick.

Have you ever listened simultaneously streaming to your DAC and switching inputs?

You can record test tones, or music, or both. The results will be the same.

Yes I've compared different inputs, no difference, which is the expected result.

Steady on - DVD Doug is one of our more knowledgeable members.
I have no doubts.

The question is different, as I have already written, namely:
"What are the sound differences, and what (practical) advantages are there between an Ethernet cable connection and a fiber connection in our hi-fi systems, located in our home ?"

My question is: who the hell are you talking to? No one here has (seriously) suggested that fiber networking is sensible or necessary for hi-fi audio (where we are working with distances less than 100m).

Ground loop noise, ....

Ethernet is transformer coupled so should eliminate it also.
Unfortunately not always, I'm not sure if the ethernet coupling spec is to have galvanic insulation on only the signal wire or the shield as well but mine certainly allowed hum to get through. Downgrading the cable to unshielded UTP cable eliminated the hum, as also did redesigning the layout so that all audio devices were plugged into the same ethernet switch.

a. none, and
b. none. I suppose if you already have cabling in place then whatever solution you've installed has the practical advantage

Massive red herring, this is not worth wasting time on

Calm down and relax. So, the SFT connection on T8 is not useful, that's the point (given that it's the same thing in copper). Perfect, thanks to everyone who participated.

Perfect, I agree, you've cleared up any doubts.

Apart from it looking cool of course!

Galvanic isolation is only for the signal. This is another audiophile myth situation where you are supposed to use the most expensive shielded connections, but unshielded (UTP) actually performs much better due to the complete elimination of ground noise.

Yes. Shielded F/UTP, S/UTP, and STP are for specific situations where the shielding is necessary (like my runs that go up radio towers where I use F/UTP). It's not universally "better", and obviously for galvanic isolation purposes it's objectively worse.

It's hilarious how the thread almost exclusively talks about everything but how the T8 sounds. You ASR guys are a blast lol

That’s because a digital transport doesn’t have a sound, unless its broke then it wouldn’t sound at all.

It may not have a sound but it has SFP!

You are very keen on the ‘imao’.
