Eversolo T8 Digital Transport!

Yes they are available, I believe we have stock.
Keith

an SFP port is crazy lol, I only see that on server gear. never really understood why equipment with digital only outs demands a premium over their DAC-bearing equivalents, pay more to do less?
don’t mean to poopoo, there are an increasing number of great active speaker options that will happily take AES3 or S/PDIF, and I wish those outs were on more equipment.
But it looks great on marketing flyers and it convinces audiofools.

The SFP Port is there to prevent those nasty little jitter bugs from crawling in through an electrical network connection. Can't be to cautious!
Jitter in network traffic?
How come the Internet did not collapse yet with all those jittered bits flying around?

I would have preferred an optical input and a USB input I could use for connecting REW, Eversolo I believe see this as one half of a transport/dac combination, presumably with their new Z10.
Keith

Marketing and audiofools are buying into it.
Hey, if someone wants to do a hardwire connection from their switch in the van down by the river 200 meters away from their house to their streamer, that SFP port is going to come in very handy. After they finish the trench, of course.

Good morning,

I’m having a problem with communication between the Eversolo T8 and the Topping D90 III Sabre via I²S.

The Eversolo has several I²S configuration modes, as well as ISS MUTE settings for Low and High. The Topping also offers ISS MUTE Low, High, and Off.

Based on the technical specifications and manuals for both devices, I should select Mode 1 on the Eversolo to achieve compatibility with the Topping. However, there’s a problem with the ISS MUTE behavior:

- When both devices are set to Low or High, there’s no sound.
- When one is Low and the other High (or vice versa), I get pops and clicks in the right channel.
- When I set the Topping’s MUTE to Off, everything plays fine until I change the album or press pause/play — then the popping noise returns again.

Restarting the DAC (turning it off and on) helps temporarily, but it’s very frustrating.
What should I do?

I’d prefer not to use USB, as in my opinion the sound quality over I²S is noticeably better.

I'd start by sending a message Topping Support.
I have a T8 on order from AudiioAdvice, though I don't how long it will take to be shipped.

In my opinion I2S is just another audiophile affectation, there isn’t even an agreed standard.
USB will be completely transparent and blameless.
Having said that I understand you would like to solve the issue so would contact Kim at Eversolo support on the Zidoo forum.

"Yes, depending on your configuration, you can select Mode 1 for the T8 and keep the default settings for the D90III SABRE. If the D90III SABRE still has issues with MUTE set to OFF, there's likely a subtle compatibility issue between the two devices that generally can't be resolved through software. " - topping.

" We truly understand your disappointment, and we're sorry that the recent firmware did not fix the issue you're experiencing.

Our team has been made aware of this and is investigating actively. We are dedicated to resolving this and will reach out to you as soon as we have an update or a solution available.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention and for your patience." - eversolo.

I will try on their forums.

I get the same functionality from a RPi4/Moode setup for 1/10th the cost and no 192kHz limitation. Is the draw the large heavy box, higher energy usage and Android security issues? ;)

I'd have this opinion if I did not have a Raspberry Pi5 with P2AES HAT and compare the inputs.

Roon is set to stream the PI for USB linked to the P2AES for I2S and AES.

This allows fast switching between Topping D90 III Discrete I2S, AES, and USB inputs.
These are not just different sound; they are completely and obviously different.

The connection path is Roon Rock Server (dedicated NUC) -> RPI 5/Pi2AES -> D90 III.
It could be due to something in the Pi2AES handling or internal processing in the D90 III.
In all cases the digital to analog conversion is the same.

Since this bothers me, I have ordered the Eversolo T8.
I have two D90 III Discrete DACs and a web page controlled XLR switch to instantly switch between the T8 andPi2AES.

I have ordered SFP converters and optical cable for about $60, that is not much to eliminate this variable.
Cheap really compared to audiophile cables.
This can be referred to as audio foolery, but IMO this makes for a better test, where another variable is completely eliminated.

Eliminate what variable?

I've just noticed this thread - You're spending a fortune (Even trade prices) on gear like this and some of the finest performing speakers out there and you have the audacity to be showing one of the worst, deliberately distorted and most heavily compressed recordings out there??? :D NO amount of remastering is going to sort that one out unless it's a proper remix methinks, but that would defeat the whole snarling whining vibe that blasted band has ;)

I used to and still like a few of the songs and I would much rather listen to music I like than the most perfect recording of something I don’t.
Having said that if you came around to audition speakers I might play some decent recordings first!

S'alright Keith, I can't bloody well talk!!!

I've not yet paid for it, but the latest CD by The Orb is ready to be ordered and I've put Toyah's 'The Changeling three-disc-set' ready to go once other financial demands are met.. (Actually, I've been very impressed with the remastering of Toyah's early albums so far - the facility uses the large PMC BB5 system, which I don't think has ever been third-party properly tested)
