Eversolo T8 Digital Transport!

Hey - I wonder if I am doing something wrong here ...

So I got the T8 too:

1) Spotify lossless --> "Not supported"
2) Appl Music - can only work in 44KHz mode (no higher res support on the T8)
3) any Equalizer / room correction results in limiting the bit rate to 192K

The good :
My Qobuz runs cleanly ... lot less bugs compare to my WiiM.

Am I missing something here ?

How many times do I have to repeat myself? It cannot be a set-up related error as long as when using the A8 as a whole (streamer-DAC-pre, network in-analog out), everything works well. I only have the "imprecise/glitchy track start" issue when using an Eversolo as digital transport (A8 or T8, network in-digital out-external DAC in), all with Tidal. Using Tidal Connect and S/PDIF is the worst, Eversolo app and USB is the best but still not perfect as with Node or Wiim. The last has even a "fade in-out" function that spares me of that pinch/clipp when skipping tracks but without losing the very beginning of it...
When using digital output, the external DAC requires re-locking the sampling rate and re-establishing audio synchronisation during track switching. This may cause a brief momentary silence at the start to prevent audio clipping.
Adjusting the sampling rate delay for the corresponding output will help.
If this doesn't work, please send the showcase video of it to me, thanks :)

Go to Apps section, tap the Apple Music that has a musical note icon, not the one with the apple icon. This gives you Apple’s own Apple Music app for Android (as opposed to Eversolo’s own app), which plays high-res correctly but is unpleasant to use in a landscape display.

The price, Wiim costs much less and performs the same or maybe even better :D

Not sure why, but he did state:

Personally as one who has owned both, neither one was buggier than the other, and both were miles ahead of the rest in terms of functionality, reliability, and ease of use.

Having the same symptoms on both T8 and A8, makes me believe it's a digital interface issue on all Eversolo streamers. Especially when by direct comparison, in the absolute same network/system, Bluesound Node and Wiim Pro doesn't glitch/hiccup...

I've tried any setting that I could relate to this (suggested by Eversolo customer support or not), even the maximum delay of 3000ms with no result.

On the other hand, T8 sounds a lot better to me than the cheaper ones...

PS: I don't know what relevance a video would have, as long as this is just an audible issue, nothing appears on display...

The reference I made to bugs with the WiiM Ultra:

I am running both Spotify and Qobuz (can't do Apple music on the WiiM Ultra), and at least on the unit I have:
What I observe as a bug on the WiiM Ultra is that when switching on the connect between Spotify and Qobuz, I can have the Qobuz Connect stop connecting . The Qobuz app on the WiiM Ultra keeps on working .

This is an interesting observation.
My way of thinking of it is following this path, maybe it is incorrect, but it kind of makes sense to me :
* If you use the RAW streamed data and no equalizer or DRC or up-sampled (the latter can be done on the WiiM but not on the T8), as long as your DAC is isolating supply and its USB clock is good enough, you should have no detectable difference.
If you did use the equalizer and the DRC, this is a different story and can be very real difference in signal processing power and quality prior to the DAC that puts the T8 ahead..

Only RAW, no DSP!
Hearing a noticeable difference (on Chord Qutest, less on RME ADI-2) surpassed my expectations also, but I won't elaborate on this here...

I was actually did want to give the T8 Room correction a try. It is supposed to be veery capable one .

Tried it on the A8, not so interesting to my audiophile soul... :) If your hi-fi setup (room included) needs DSP, you better change something! It makes me happier. :)

Thanks for the heads-up on Eversolo digital out issue’s I’ll buy another WiiM then ( lightning killed the one I had ) .

My take on room correction, it’s absolutely necessary in the bass if you use subwoofers or have very bass capable speakers

But it’s easy to overcook it , use below 200Hz ish .

I also use some subtle EQ to taste and small bass shelf if you dont listen very loud you need a mild loudness effect and if have room compensated the bass it can be a bit lean subjectively as you removed a lot of resonances .

Using Roon or Lyrion Music Server LMS could fix some of the issues as you can sample rate convert everything to one rate and I wonder if they don’t keep the stream ”on” all the time ? Worth a try . Especially if you activate a crossfade ( on suitabgenres ofcourse:) )

Kind of a purist here, liking to cherish the flavour/nature of a good bookshelf speaker, which subwoofers tend to ruin... :)

Uh-huh.

Yes adding a properly integrated subwoofer always ruins everything.

An interesting comment considering, as far as I am aware, there is no such thing as a true full-range (plays down to 30Hz or lower with proper headroom/authority), “bookshelf,” speaker.

My system plays down to 14Hz clean, flat, and neutral (following Harman curve). I’ve played around with high-pass filtering the sub at 30Hz and then letting it play down to 14Hz and I absolutely can hear/feel the difference, so to say that music has no content that low is objectively and entirely false. I want to hear/feel all of the music, not just most of it. 14Hz is completely impossible with any standmount speaker that I am aware of.

14hz? Definitively felt by some internal organs (your building also) and anything but sound to human ears. :) That's not music you're talking about there, seismic experience maybe... :)

I'm pretty aware of a small speaker shortcomings but I tend to prefer it in my apartment, if I may... You engineers like to over complicate things! :)

Did you miss the word feel, which I used multiple times?
Playing organ music for your organs :) I also like me some good subwoofers and yes you feel the music literally. My setup is bit limited compared to yours it does sub 20 Hz numbers but not flat to 14 .
