Eversolo T8 Digital Transport!

It's hard for me to understand why, for example, the same streamer as DMP-A8 can output a top notch signal on analog but cripples the beginning of the same source (Tidal) on digital only, bypassing the internal DAC!?!

Inheriting this behaviour puts an even greater pressure on T8, being a digital transport only!

Eversolo's customer support told me to be patient and I really do hope their R&D will sort this out in a future update...

It's hilarious how the thread almost exclusively talks about everything but how the T8 sounds. You ASR guys are a blast lol
It is a little frustrating for those of us who would like to learn exactly that.

It’s just a streamer and doesn’t have any ‘sound’ that’s just marketing/influencer nonsense, it does have a SFP input though!

As I'm trying to learn about the T8, could you tell me what you mean when you say "the beginning of the same source"? I too intend to use Tidal but I'm not technically savy so am very curious. Thank you.

If it has a "sound" it's either very poorly engineered and or they added filters to the output stages? I'm interested in the T8 for it's extensive functionality and great looks.

Yes, this part I do understand... However, even though it appears a lot of people on here like the Wiim, when I asked Amir and mentioned audio quality is my priority, he recommended the Eversolo... So there must be something better about Eversolo... Which is what I'm hoping to learn from you folks. I wish I had a better technical understanding of electronics, but it's just not my field.

If he recommended one over the other, it's due to objective measurements vs subjective anecdotal experience as a rule.

Purely as streamers ( digital output) the Wiim pro and any other streamer would be identical, the ‘Pro’ didn’t have a great analogue out which was rectified with the ‘Pro Plus’.
I compared the Plus to A6 no difference in SQ but the A6 has loads more features.

Without knowing the entire context of your discussion with Amir, I wouldn't assume his recommendation had anything to do with sound quality. As Purite mentioned, the analog outs on the lower-end models (mini and pro) aren't the greatest, but even then I wouldn't say that there's any audible issue there. Any other Wiim model (or the digital outs on any Wiim model) will be audibly indistinguishable from any other competent device.

Searching for sound quality differences between competent electronics is a waste of time.

Thank you for that:). I just posted a question on the forum which I'd like your opinon (and anyone else willing to chime in) on if you wouldn't mind? This is what I posted:

"Is a stand alone music streamer a better choice than a Nvidia Sheild (with or without an audio extractor) if audio quality via Tidal is the priority?

The thing is, along with Tidal, I would also like to watch Netflix, YouTube, Paramount, etc. Can a Nvidia Shield Pro satisfy all of my needs or would it be wiser (in terms of sound quality) to only use it (or Apple TV) for Netflix, YouTube, etc... Then get a separate streamer for Tidal? Please don't focus too much on recommending a specific streamer as much as the initial question of Nvidia vs stand alone streamer. Thank you so much for any advice you can offer."

Your thoughts?

I appreciate your response and understand yours is a similar postion to most, if not all, on this site regarding streamers and sound quality. In this case I mentioned to Amir that sound quality was my absolute highest priority. Of course, it's safe to assume he was still simply making an "overall" recommendation which would fall in line with what you are saying.

Yes, and that's why i trust his response:). I appreciated the recommendation he offered. Might you have an opinion on the message I just posted in response to Purite Audio's most recent message here?

Not familiar with the Nvidia, sorry a ‘streamer’ is just a stripped down computer, I used my macbook for years as a reference had two audio computers built with fancy parts didn’t make the slightest difference.

If we look inside, Wiim Pro really looks like a stripped down or mini PC. T8 on the other hand (10x the price) looks like an audio device on steroids, with super "audiophile" linear power supply, clocks and so on... Is that "overengineering" or it should matter and make an audible difference? :)

Well the T8 is digital only isn’t it? So it can’t make an audible difference, unless it’s broken and that will be very obvious…..no blind test required.

Oh, haha I was actually referring to a different post I commented on from Purite Audio where I asked the following:

On this forum, we're not allowed to say a digital transport (streamer) sounds a lot better than another. An exaggerated night and day difference describing cartoons vs. real movies. A simple and upfront tiring presentation vs. "natural flow musicality" within complex stage elements, that helps you forget about measurements (both decent though) and enjoy real music. So I won't... :P

PS: a huge brilliant colourful display and beautiful VU meters can have that effect on vulnerable people's minds! :)
