Just ordered the new Eversolo T8 which is a digital transport, a streamer/dac without the dac.
It looks pretty smart( expensive though £1200) and I am hoping it will be able to send a digital signal to my active speakers that already have DAC built in.
Thorbjørn’s Sarannas,Mantas and SBS, Dutch&Dutch etc.
It arrives tomorrow, Eversolo suggest pairing with their new Z10 dac available later this year.

Mine arrives later today. Will hook up to my Marantz M1 via optical. On top of the fact that HEOS can be quite flakey, Audirvana's UPnP connection to the M1 isn't the most stable. I expect the Qobuz Connect connection to the T8 will work just as if not more reliably than to my M1, and then the T8 has the added benefit of taking an NVMe card with my personal library and also natively supporting Apple Music. Let the M1 handle DIRAC and amplification...and not a single DAC in sight anywhere in my chain (M1 is a direct PCM->PWM digital power amplifier with global feedback)!

And as if by magic!
It’s really heavy, very solid, really extremely heavy its proportions a re ‘just right’.
It’s the weight its ridiculously heavy.

It has Femto’s!
Can’t imagine why it is so heavy.

an SFP port is crazy lol, I only see that on server gear. never really understood why equipment with digital only outs demands a premium over their DAC-bearing equivalents, pay more to do less?
don’t mean to poopoo, there are an increasing number of great active speaker options that will happily take AES3 or S/PDIF, and I wish those outs were on more equipment.

Interesting. Screen looks about same size as a8? And has 2 chip locations for storage.
Interface similar to their other streamers?

I’d really like a wide / large screen version, the a8 i have is great. Software after the latest revisions is fantastic.

Just plugged it into the Sigberg SBS.1s very neat, internal player and AES output.

Its ok I wont be using the fibre connection ( what is the fibre connection)

what is the fibre connection

It's an SFP port that accepts a network transceiver. The transceivers are usually fibre optic (they could be copper, but then you would just use the RJ45 port). The transceivers look like this...

These are 10G SFP+ transceivers, the ones with the fibre built-in are known as AOCs (Active Optical Cables).

I suppose Eversolo have added this option to the T8 as a sop to those that think networks need to be optically isolated from their hi-fi kit.

Fiber connection is fiber optic. Of course the light is corrupted by nasty metal in the device. You'll hear a nasty lightness in heavy metal music. I don't know what fibre is, looks like a French word.

The SFP Port is there to prevent those nasty little jitter bugs from crawling in through an electrical network connection. Can't be to cautious!

FROM GOOGLE

"Fiber" is the American English spelling, while "fibre" is the British English spelling, and both refer to the same thing. The difference is regional, with the United States preferring the "fiber" spelling and the United Kingdom preferring the "-re" spelling.

Here's a quick guide to help you choose:
  • Fiber:
Use in American English, for example, in reference to dietary fiber or fiber optic cables.

  • Fibre:
Use in British English, for example, when discussing textile fibers or the moral fiber of a person.
Both spellings are correct and widely understood, but using the appropriate spelling for your audience or geographical context is important.

I would suspect it keeps the streamer regular.
