Laptop/streamer doesn’t matter whatever your preference.

True: just don't feel that I MUST do it whichever way you have chosen to do it. As I may feel that the other way (or even another completely different way) is the right choice for me.

I stay with a friend of mine when I visit Denver. He has an Eversolo DMP-A8. I've been there twice, and both times the Eversolo would not pair with his phone. The first time it wouldn't play anything, and then the next time it would play ONLY Ed Sheeran on Tidal. Based on this admittedly anecdotal experience, I would likely not buy one.

I have the A8. My subjective listening tests place it in elite territory, especially for the price. I’ve used other streamers like Hifi Rose and the original Eversolo A6 and this one stands above them. Rich sound, very low distortion, detailed, wide soundstage. I echo Amir’s conclusion. This is a superstar piece and provides elite performance for a reasonable price given some of today’s ridiculous audio prices.

I’ve only had this issue twice in the past few months and I use it often. One issue I noticed. Sometimes my phone gets off wifi on its own and runs cellular and I have to make sure it’s back on the same wifi my Eversolo is on. When it’s on wifi m, I only had the issue twice. Twice I had to go up to the Eversolo and pair it again. I think it’s because my Wifi router assigns the Eversolo a new IP address and the app does not know that, but I’m not an expert. Even when it’s not paired correctly, the device worked if I pushed buttons directly on the device itself.

I will say, I’ve had other streamers like this - Wiim, Audiolab Play-Fi, HifiRose, Bluesound Node and they’ve all had similar app connection issues. The worst was the Play-Fi app.

Go to the Eversolo’s network menu and disable DHCP - it will assign a static IP address ..
Problem solved , at least for me ..

If that were a problem, you would read about it everywhere.
Have the DMP-A8 checked, sometimes phones don't work properly, or as I always said in my previous IT job, most of the time the problem is between the chair and the monitor.

I have mine permanently on the floor next to my TV stand & speakers, so I see what you mean! It's possible with the right furniture & layout you could just have the laptop next to the sound system on a table/counter/stand surface. The aesthetics of this Eversolo A8 streamer could end up looking better in an audio system I suppose, but many people don't mind.
Get a cat and dog. You might change your mind.

I only correct room gain derived from standing waves, in the minimal phase region, which are generally in the low bass.
The Vinyl medium just can’t handle very low bass, I am always surprised how little bass there is on my old 80s/90s favourites, compared to the contemporary stuff.

I noticed the some of the same, but, attribute it to recording and mastering of the day.

My main focus is audio, but having video capabilities is obviously a big plus, so I have been looking at the Zidoo UHD8000. Could anyone explain what the A8 can do that the Zidoo UHD8000 cannot, or the main differences from an audio perspective ?

The Eversolo has PEQ which would be a main difference from an audio perspective.

Looking at the bottom of this feature list, the UHD-8000 also has PEQ.

I'm looking at buying an Eversolo A8 streamer. I need my Oppo 205 to play my blurays etc. I will have to buy this online as none are available to try this point below.

Will the HDMI Audio only output on my Oppo 205 work running into the Eversolo A8 HDMI input(ARC) connection?

Does anyone know if using the SSD installed acts like a upnp NAS with server, or can you then only use the Eversolo app ?

I think the same question came up earlier in the thread, and if I remember the answer correctly the SSD content will just be seen by the Eversolo unit itself. Someone can likely correct me if I'm wrong.

Another question:
According to the pictures I’ve seen it looks like the SSD content is just folder-based, can it read cover art or will it just show you a list of folders?

For the DMPA8, does the PEQ feature function for streaming through digital outputs? Thought I saw a post that suggested it doesn't.

Thanks -
