Nah. The D100 sound was hallucinatory; holographic and all-enveloping (Head-Fi). But seriously, has anyone seen measurements of the D100, and would the difference be audible anyway?

Very Nice Review. Bought A8 just hours before this test was published. Replaced PC, Intona, D90 and Pre 90 in my setup. Used it for a couple of days and am very happy with my aquisition. The Phone app (Iphone) has lost contact with A8 on a couple of occations but no other issues with it. Sounds awesome.

Hello ! ;-)
This DMP-A8 is very interessting !
But I have a question.... I have read that PEQ was available only in USB input. Would you confirm ? Because I would like to use the spdif input with the posiblity to have PEQ too...
Thanks a lot ... ;-)

Man, I'm way late to the party on this, but the board reminds me of the old Oppos stuff. I had an HA-1 whose board was very clean, and this is very similar, and even very similar to an Oppo product approach overall. I may have missed it, but any old Oppo employees in this new company?

Available on all digital inputs and three digital outputs.

I actually have the machine in use right now.
Eversolo really should update the manual if they haven’t.

Is there a third party user manual available? Frequently, in other hobbies, someone will produce a complete, well thought out user manual and market it. Such a situation occurred with the Elecraft K3 transceiver (a ham radio product). It was a very complicated, feature rich product that the Elecraft manual did not really do justice to. A third party manual was produced and it became the Bible for using the radio. Similarly, the features of the A8 are not really fully explained in the existing manual. Just wondering.

You can EQ any digital input or output.
The A-8 has two ‘EQs’, DSP and EQ.
They write that it ONLY works on analog outputs.

Good news, DMP-A8 will soon launch a digital room correction function(EDRC) based on FIR Filter.
DMP-A6 will launch a New digital volume algorithm EVC(Eversolo volume control)
And new Integrations:Tune In/IDAGIO

I'll never understand why they'd take the HDMI out from the A6 away on the A8. But that I could get over, what I cannot abide is a lack of a sub out, and thus no crossover. That is just ridiculous. I'm buying a WiiM Ultra, because at least it can run a sub. It is absurd that Eversolo missed so badly on features like this especially for $2,000.

That is why I voted only Good. Computer problems can always disrupt the operation of this kind of device and there are always a few users who experience problems with their use. After all, network players are nothing more than computers dedicated to digital audio tasks. It's good that the Hi Fi part is totally mastered but the software parts can still be improved and can become obsolete.

This is probably obvious to everyone but me, but would a phono preamp still be necessary to bring the signal to line level or can the turntable be connected directly? I assume phono preamp is necessary but am hoping otherwise for a "one box to rule them all" solution.
A phono preamp is needed. The A8 doesn’t have a phono stage.

Should the measurement had been better or similar if the input is as streamer using wifi ?

And the WiiM Ultra has phono preamp for those who, you know..... Eversolo seems like not enough for too much.

But where is the laptop? Would you have a cable going across the floor to the DAC?
An iPhone can be the remote of a M1 dead silent USB out to DAC new MacBook or MacMini. Can also be your local music server. The MIDI app gives you as lot to play with in the digital domain before sending signal to the DAC. The only issue is lack of HDMI ARC, but as long as Apple is your source and not the TV, you don’t need that feedback loop. I stream everything from my iPhone to the MacMini to the TV, so no HDMI ARC necessary.
