I believe that the XLR AND RCA are active at the same time so yes you can hook up a sub this way
I think my question may have been lost in this. Let’s say I have speakers connected via RCA and a sub via the XLR. The unit has a HPF that would be perfect to use here, but my understanding is that it is applied to both sets of outputs. This makes the sub useless. Is this avoidable?

Better to have a unit like minidsp do that out of the Eversolo , but as you said, you are using XLR for the sub, so im not sure

Well what I’m saying is all hypothetical. Forget which outputs go to what. It just seems silly to implement a proper high pass filter and have no way to use it with a subwoofer, no?

Life is full of mystery ain’t it

You can use the combined RCA/XLR output to connect a sub.
Keith

I think the question being asked is will this allow bass management? Can you implement a low pass on the RCA and a high pass on the XLR (or vice versa)?

No you would need the sub to implement its own filter.

Bought one about a year ago and I was super happy with it till I noticed something odd : I connected a HiFi amp and speakers to the RCA out and set RCA out to fixed.
I also connected a pair of Neuman active speakers to XLR and set XLR to variable of course. Everything went well till I selected RCA+XLR. Both outputs switched to fixed ! It nearly blow my Neuman monitors ! That is a serious designfault. I shut it down, unplugged and sent it back right away.

Serious error which could have destroyed the connected equipment and certainly out of warranty of course.
Too expensive for me anyway.

Hi,

Quick question here, I assume the answer is yes, but: are the relay pops normal when you are adjusting the volume? It's first time I'm hearing this

I can see relay pops happening when turning the unit on or off.
But for when adjusting the volume?
That is something that I have never encountered.
It happens with basically every stepped relay volume control.

It is the relays of the attenuator, it is a well implemented attenuator.

being that there is no dedicated subwoofer output, is it possible to integrate a subwoofer while still using the HPF?

Perhaps using RCA to speakers with DSP and XLR out to the sub? I don’t expect to be able to have two separate DSP setups for the two different outputs, but being able to defeat DSP on one set would make sense. Could integrate a MINIDSP before the sub in that case.

If not than you’ve got a high pass filter that you can’t use to integrate a sub? Am I missing somethin?
You can hook up one or two subs either via XLR or RCA outs. Unfortunately when you apply a filter it goes to all outputs. So you cant apply a high pass filter to the mains without it also going to the subs. I really hope they fix this with a firmware update if possible. As its stands now all you can do is send a full range signal to the speakers and subs and use the low pass filter on the sub. I would be great if you could apply a filters to XLR and RCA outs independently.

It happens with basically every stepped relay volume control.
Mine is stepped (a pair of APT/Holman Preamps linked together), maybe my Dahlquist M-905's are not sensitive enough for me to hear it.
Or, since I have a tri-amped (one NAD 2200, running in a 4 OHM stereo configuration for my pair of [custom by me subs] and one NAD 2200 in bridged mono, running in an 8 OHM configuration for each of my Dahlquist M-905's) my turn on sequence precludes me from hearing it, as (since the early 70's) I knew where I want my volume to be before I turn everything on & I preset it as I am turning the system on & rarely would need to adjust it.
But, over the years, I have never heard the sound that you are talking about (and I am sure that I have not ALWAYS done things with the controls [including the volume controls] the same way).

Right now I use ATV + HDMI->coax converter + Gato dia250S, it is so convenient to use ATV +iphone/ipad but from a two years I’m looking for a better way to stream. I’ve read all pages and my first enthusiasm of A8 went down because of android update after a years. I was thinking about buying A8 because of Apple Music lossless but now I don’t know. Wiim has only airplay so it is not better solution vs. mine.

Not quite. Precision timed relay operations ensure no transients and are a feature of the higher quality implementations. Benchmark HPA4 etc.

Vinyl doesn’t have the bass extension of digital ime,
Keith

This is probably obvious to everyone but me, but would a phono preamp still be necessary to bring the signal to line level or can the turntable be connected directly? I assume phono preamp is necessary but am hoping otherwise for a "one box to rule them all" solution.
