If there are audible differences between the devices they would be evident in their respective measurements, it is very easy to be fooled by sighted bias.
Keith
hi, I have a Volume control questions for 2 devices both with Volume Control nobs.
I am looking to connect the DMP-A6 to a Topping A70 Pro amplifier.
I believe the best way to do this would be via xlr balanced cables. Both have volume controls what would be the best way to set this up. Full on the eversolo and then just use the Topping for control? Or the other way, and set either to max?
Does the DMP-A6 have a line out like function which otherwise would be how I could have connected it? I have attached a picture of the Topping
a few more remarks:
the dmp a6 stays pretty cool in my almost closed cupboard
when you change input via the app, you hear a tick through the speakers. Not loud, but clear and a little annoying.
Is it possible that you are simply hearing the audible tick from inside the A6 when inputs are changed ? It's a fairly noticeable tick, sounds like a relay, it doesn't come through my speakers.
People will always keep looking for reasons to buy multiple devices that do exactly the same thing at the same quality just to justify purchases and Side-Grades.
The A6 is probably endgame for everything it does.
I get what you are saying, but, let's withold the "endgame" designation until we see how many of the long list of bugs get sorted out in a reasonable time frame and what happens with some of the originally advertised features/functionality such as "Airplay 2" that seem to have mysteriously disappeared from the spec sheet and marketing materials.
Hi,
I answer on the second part of your remarks, in general, the USB cable, is generally more effective, its interest is to be able to transport rates higher than 192 Khz and the DSD. Some people like coaxial because it has a fuller rendering with a more limited bass, USB is more dynamic with more precision, the less natural the USB feels, be careful, we are really on the tastes and colors of some and others. In digital, I use USB and Coaxial, depending on what I have available in terms of connection.
Nope, it's not working and the original mention of AirPlay2 disappeared from the Eversolo product page between launch and now. Hopefully to re-appear with any upcoming firmware update.

Yes, crossing my fingers that's even possible via software. I supppose if it has the right hardware installed they could, but right now it's Airplay 1 functionality has been inconsistent at best.
@poxymoron, not me, I heard that, it was sold to me like that, sound professionals, I mainly use analog and digital USB for its ability to listen to my DSDs and practice in my installation, now the HDMI since I have the DMP.
Funny, read on the Eversolo forum on the subject, USB and Coaxial difference, I don't have a definite opinion on the matter, it's digital so fairly equivalent
"My local dealer was good enough to lend me a Chord Epic coaxial cable to try against my Atlas USB. I have to say that both have their strengths, the coaxial is a little more rounded to my ears, where USB was more resolving in terms of detail.
The USB cable certainly sounds a more digital, but not in a bad way, and when you think that the coaxial cable is half the price of the unit itself, I’m not sure that I could justify buying it.
Not sure that will help you, but it's just my findings.
What I have noticed, though, and I could be imagining this, but the unit has just continued to get better since I've had it. "
And
"It seems S/PDIF is the winner in my setup.
In my previous setup (with Lumen Mini or sotm sms-200 feeding into Benchmark DAC), it was the same deal. To my ears, S/PDIF delivers fuller and more present audio."
And
Louder sounds better to the ears but USB and SPDIF should produce 100% identical sound with the same DSD/PCM format set at the same volume level. USB has far more bandwidth.
Yes, I can confirm, Radio Paaradise plays very well and I am grateful that it is so. But I noticed one thing.
The Radio P. simultaneously broadcasts video through the display, which is perfectly fine, but another option is after switching the screen where there is a description of the artist, details about the album and other information, and here I noticed that if he finishes a song, for example band Pet Shop Boys and another performer starts playing, so the screen will no longer change to a new performer with his data and information. Pet Shop Boys info will still remain and other performers are playing. I don't know if it's my fault in A6, or if it's a fault of the application.
I believe this is expected behaviour as the full Radio Paradise app does the same. They (probably rightly) assume you may still be reading the information even though the song has now changed.
Est-il possible que vous entendiez simplement le tic-tac audible depuis l'intérieur de l'A6 lorsque les entrées sont modifiées ? C'est une tique assez perceptible, ça ressemble à un relais, ça ne passe pas par mes haut-parleurs.
@yllanos: If your system is comprised exclusively of digital sources, you really don't need a separate preamp. If the A6 is in the circuit, as it can act as your volume/gain control.
If you have analog sources, different story. Where do you put them?
Hi, thanks. I don't have or need any analog sources.
You are correct, currently I don't really need a preamp, but I do want the Parasound P6 because crossover/bass management feature built-in. MiniDSP Flex is my plan B. I don't like the way my speakers sound currently as they receive a full signal and I already have a sub. Besides, I also own a Wiim Pro that I will be keeping for comparison and I am planning on eventually connecting it to my dedicated preamp.
But yes, my question still remains: I am not sure if using the DAC on the DMP-A6 will be better than the DAC on Parasound P6. In the end my ears will decide, but I am not able to purchase all the necessary equipment until late October or so.
