What do you like better about the Eversolo over the Wiim?
The Wiim sounds good but the A6 streams Tidal and even Spotify with so much more clarity and detail. Separation of channels in stereo compared is IMO much better. I am using the on board DAC with RCA out connectors to an Onkyo RZ50 and Emotiva XPA 3 power amp.

A good DAC / streamer , I could easily distinguish the sound quality between Spotify and Tidal... Conversely, compare these two streaming apps via phone , it needs more effort and critical listening to find out the differences

Hi there. Could anyone guide me on how to connect an external CD drive to the A6? I'm using ASUS external DVD-RW. I have connected it to the USB OTG and set the port to "External storage device". Do I need to change this setting? At the moment, the A6 is not recognising the cd drive. Thank you.

DVD Drive may not be a supported model.

Just got my Eversolo DMP A6
I am having a little trouble setting it up. I have Spotify, Amazon Music and Apple Music Accounts... I really do not need another service.
I cannot figure out how to add them in the app under Streaming - Music Services. Can someone give me some direction?

As I have not finished my install (getting to the back of my Marantx SR8015 is difficult) so I plugged it in via HDMI to the Aux input on the front of the AVR just to try it out.

I was able to log into my Amazon Music Account and Apple Music on the front screen of the DMP A6, but also could not enter my email and password from the app. I have an iPhone. I cannot control Apple Music or Amazon thru the DMP A6 App - cannot open those apps to select music or anything.

Thx for any help here.
Did you get this sorted? I have the same issue using an iPad/iPhone, however everything works using my wife’s Samsung tablet

That's right, I always switch between CXN V2 (wolfson DAC) and Ares 2 (R2R DAC) for different music genres, jazz and classical music is best to play on Ares 2 IMO, a wider soundstage.
@ Auronthas, your Dac Denafrips ARES, this site has tested, they appreciate its musicality, its silky side and its way of making music easy to live with a lot of sweetness. Of course, in the final assessment, it will lack liveliness, details like a Saber DAC, therefore lower quotation than a DMP, I like the opinion the Denafrips can make you want to listen to digital for those who like LP... So DAC for you which will be very complementary to that of the DMP for a different listening. I didn't know this brand, interesting...

I haven't received my unit yet, but just thinking out loud...
Since this runs Android, is it possible to launch a script at startup? That way I could send a command to my AVR to power on and switch to the correct input when I turn on the Eversolo.

I connected mine to the usb below the OTG, the one marked audio out”, it’s an ASUS am

I’ve connected my ASUS Zen drive to the usb below the OTG, marked usb audio out and it ripped Cd’s ok.

The VU meters are pretty much in sync with the music I believe if that's what you're asking but I dont think they actually track output voltage accurately. They are basically eye candy. I could be wrong.

You could try playing test tracks from the usual music streaming services.

Is there a full log for what is in the new firmware?
As soon as you turn on the A6 each day a pop up notice of new firmware shows up on the screen. It contains a full list of the changes being made for the most current update. All you do is read it off the Touchscreen or your tablet and follow the update procedure.
There is a log list of the latest changes read that list and decide if you want to update or not...

I can clearly hear the difference between Tidal and Spotify both on the Wiim and Eversolo. I have not had time to do much critical listening yet or even optimized my setup for the DMP-A6. I just answered a question that was asked of me. I have only had the streamer for 6 days:cool:

Hi, Do you have an exact model number of the ASUS Zen ?

@mirror88 Compatible USB optical disc drive models need to be listed by Eversolo somewhere on their support page. There are a few idiosyncrasies with the mating of various disc drives that need to be clarified and resolved.
I use a LG Electronics, Model No.GP65NB60.
While it linked up with the A6 fine , was added to the external device list and started playing the first track it then tripped the USB OTG relay and disconnected from the Eversolo.
I didn't try it again as I dont like the idea of triggering the USB OTG relay due to a possible current over- draw from an external device.

There is a vague note at the first asterisk * located at the bottom of Page 7 in the Owners Manual speaking to the need for a "Splitter Cable" due to the fact that the USB 3.0 OTG port outputs 1.2A of supply current.
Perhaps some external disc drives exert a higher electro/mechanical load on the USB 3.0 ports ??
I contacted LG Electronics and they don't know the maximum current draw spec or wattage for this drive. It's not on the product spec sheet.
I posted a lengthy comment at post #1393 on Page 70 here.
I'm hoping to get some clarification from @mirror88 or anyone else here that might have an answer to this supply current issue..
I had a ifi Micro Black Lable DAC ( running on its internal battery) plugged into the A6's USB ( audio out) at the time during trying to run the CD drive. Perhaps both of these USB 3.0 ports share the same power supply circuitry and the load of a spinning CD drive taxes these circuit's supply power ??
I paid $50 for the LG CD Drive and it's only 3 weeks old. I certainly don't want to buy various drives until I find one that's compatible.

I bought a USB A 3.0 Y Splitter cable that has a separate male USB 2.0 / 5V power only connector and a separate male power & data USB 3.0 OTG connection to plug into the A6's OTG port.
These individual cables join together at the end that will connect to the CD drive while at the other ends the separate 3.O connection will go to the OTG port and the separate 2.0 USB connector will plug into to a 5V - 1A wallwart supply...
I hope this solves this issue.. I recieve this Y splitter cable on Saturday and will try again then, but I definately don't want to continue tripping relays...
This power issue might be the reason some of the other people have CD drive connection/ compatibility issues?
Supplying a "splitter" cable could be something Eversolo might want to consider. This would clarify their stance on this area of concern.

I absolutely love this streamer! I'm planning on getting one for my daughter for Christmas.
But, this CD ripping thing seemed to be a concept that needs further clarification and needs to be resolved.... If any of the Mods here have direct access to mirror here at ASR can you please forward my issue to him...
Sorry all for my novel writing here, but I need to be thorough in conveying my issue...

Try Qobuz. Tidal is a step up from Spotify. I find Qobuz to offer even better resolution on most recordings I have compared. Even comparing Tidal MQA on the EverSolo’s own DAC to my outboard DAC fed by the hi-res Qobuz stream, I feel the audio quality is superior on Qobuz. I think Apple Music is pretty decent too.

Good question, but in fact what I'd be really looking for is an Android app. I had the chance to play with the Android app of the Eversolo DMP 6A, which is just plainly brilliant for that device. The E1DA DAC also has a wonderful Android app to controls the DSP EQ section of that device (among many other things). I really wish that RME would look into an an Android app to control their DACs.

yeah, im coming from a node and the blusound software for each win/mac OS is brilliant. Sometimes its just a hassle to use your phone to make setting changes etc ... I use my PC most of the time so win app would be great @mirror88 anything in the pipeline for this ?

Has the price on this gone up in the US? I see it for $899 vs $850. Seems sold out on Amazon everytime I look. :( Any physical store dealers?

Yeah there's at least half a dozen retailers in Canada.
Bay Bloor Radio,,, Electronics For Less , to name 2 and a few others I can't remember.
Google: Eversolo DMP-A6 for sale USA or wherever you are...

I guess I could , but I don't care about the meters ...I stated that I could be wrong about their accuracy... I was replying to a question from another member regarding the meters being in sync, which they seem to be...

Some drives are incompatible is due to insufficient USB power supply. The solution is to use an external power supply or a dual ended USB cable, USB OTG and USB AUDIO OUT port can be used same time on A6.
