I can be a real Debbie Downer when it comes to Chi Fi. Most of it I have seen / used feels cheap.
Hi Oddiofyl,

I know you don't mean this in a derogatory manner but let's avoid the term Chi-fi as it can have negative connotations for such companies. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

I haven’t seen any measurements for the ‘Rose’ but if it is competently designed then there should be no audible difference, speakers and the room if you really want better sound quality if you enjoy swapping components then Snoopy’s advice might be appropriate.
Keith
Keith,
I put you the measurements in link made on my Rose 250 first model (see link), it has the same chip as the DMP A6 ESS 9038 K2M, it only has one, the Eversolo has 2 for each channel , the THD + N (distortion and noise reduction), 0.0003% and the signal to noise ratio, 116 db, these are manufacturer data, in what I have seen comparable to the A6. I would like the Eversolo, ideally I would have liked a 9038 pro chip, hence my remark perhaps expecting an A8 with this superior chip, you will think that I am psycho rigid on the subject. That said, the EverSolo at less than 900 euros, really very interesting at this price, Roon Ready perfect for me, I use Roon and Qobuz.

There is absolutely no need for lossy audio if streaming from a 1 GBit WiFi/wired connection any more.
Oh yes there absolutely is:
1. Spotify and others are streaming millions of songs every day of the year. They could save a lot of energy and server space. (And they would not even have to continue with lossy codecs, if only they used 16/44 FLACS.)
2. You may personally have a 1GB internet connection, a vast majority of people in this world hasn’t.

I wish it could output analog and digital simultaneously, apparently it does not. Not positive on that but it seems to be the case.

Not too many cons I can think of. At $899 the non Master is a bargain.

This unit has nice build and it seems to function flawlessly. It’s the only streamer I have used that never has a hiccup when you pick up your phone or Tab. If the app is open and on it seems to find the device right away and seems to never lose connection.

Still early, but I think this may be the sleeper Streamer of the year.

My Dad is prettty tech savvy at 79, he was able to rip some music and put it in the SSD.

So for someone who has never streamed he was able to use it without any headaches which is great because that was the plan, a device that is super easy to use
The flawless connectivity between devices to the dmp a6 that you speak of sound very promising to me. Waiting ages for my phone or laptop to detect and stream to my oppo 203 really gets to me so having a proper device that just works will be amazing.

A little video I made, unboxing and some playback test. Had to mute Hotel California, thing is you don’t know what song is okay until you uploaded. Too lazy to redo with another song my channel is not monetised, sorry about that. If You Leave Me By Now by Chicago is fine though.

Great job with the video! THANKS!!

Looks cool!

So I hear there will be a remote released at a later point.

Is there a way of controlling it now with a Harmony or something? Or is it bluetooth only?
They estimate early July for remote, which is supposed to be BT, but they alluded to discrete codes, so Harmony is a maybe...I'm hoping for the same thing!!!

Mine is supposedly coming tomorrow. If you don't pair it it should just work as an IR remote. Harmony Hub supports BT as well as IR. With devices that support both you can usually select which one to use but as far as I know the A6 has been asked to be added to the database as IR.

Thanks! I'll order the remote as soon as it's available (NOT available on US Amazon site at this time...just checked)

Feature Qs for owners: (thinking about using it as transport only)

1, Can you turn on/off the unit from Roon remote?
2, The Apple Music App idea sounds great, how do you PEQ it (for some basic room corrections.)

I currently using a Mac mini as transport, Roon was great, but Apple Music is a pain (need Element / AU plugin to deal with PEQ, and remote form VNC is pain in the XXX).

Thanks!

There are a couple of new reports of analog output problems with the Master Edition: "mids completely muffled and unclear due to so much bass with a sort of strange reverb", "way more bass than usual. Sound is also muffled a little bit with muffled high tones too". One says transport only using external DAC is fine, so possibly something on the internal DAC / analog side. If not system related to specific amplifiers, setup, etc. or just hypercritical impressions, hopefully isolated to only a few units.

What would be the best engineering / scientific tests for those with suitable software and/or instrumentation to see these reported issues if present?

Somebody to send Amir their Master unit for testing?

Newly received Master Edition on second day of playing. No problem with XLR or RCA sounding bassheavy or muffled. Must be an isolated problem to a unit or two. Not anything sounding very different from digital outputs either. Just good sound, beatiful product, and lots of hours enjoying good music.

I'm going to buy a DMP A6 in the next few weeks given its attractive price and its quality, it will be a good complement to my Rose 250, since I have two amps (Home Cinema and Hi-Fi), it will find its place, the HDMI connection for sound will be interesting

i received mine today
I will report back on its dlna capabilities in case anyone else wants to use this feature.

Or, that it revealed a problem with that user's system...
