Absolutely not:
biggest improvement of the ME was the femto-clocks, that in the case of USB connection would never come into play: UAC2 is asynchronous, and uses the destination device's clock to (re)synchronize the audio data.
Thank you.
I’m also wondering whether it might be better to sell the Z8 and just buy a used ME. Until now, I wanted the Z8 and the A6 because I wanted to control the volume in one of them, but adjusting the volume on the A6 disables passthrough, so I assumed I needed the Z8 to control the volume there instead.
However, now I’m having doubts, because I’ll be changing my amplifier soon, and I’ll most likely buy one without bass, treble, or balance controls. That means I’ll have to use the tone controls in the A6 anyway, which will disable passthrough regardless. In my tiny room, it’s impossible to listen to music without those adjustments.

The only thing the ‘ME’ edition actually adds is a gold badge and the extra cost.

Janck, the A6 is ‘audibly transparent’ that means it is good as it gets, state of the art, etc etc
The Z8 also measures superbly, and is also audibly transparent there is NO DIFFERENCE.
If you really want to hear a difference purchase a really poor design that adds AUDIBLE distortion.
Best,
Keith

A friend told me that there seem to be 3 versions of the A6... are there significant differences between them?

3? They are 2 at most.

The Master Edition adds
1. femto-clocks
2. linear PSU

in essence: nothing to worry about. Grab one (the original, and cheaper) and you're safe and done.

Yes the price.

The gen 1 A6 (both normal and ME) have switch mode power supply. The ME have dual femto-clock and better opamps on output stage. The A6 gen 2 's have LPS, and similar differences between normal and ME versions.

Yes but they make no difference to the sound quality.

So you get 4 different variations that will provide the same audible result (oh, forgot, there are some technical problems with that more recent models).

Power supply problems specifically I think.
Guess I haven't been keeping up with the latest. What power supply issues and does this apply to the Eversolo DMP-A6 MasterEdition Gen2? Besides the other differences that have been named, there is one significant difference between the original DMP-A6 and the MasterEdition of the same that may be important to some people - the finish - the ME comes in a silver anodized version. I know, a lot to pay for a different finish, but it might be important to some.

Here’s a discussion of the issue :

AH-AH-AHHH You forgot the gold MA badge bringing it to 3 ;) :)

I've never considered this but now I'm intrigued
My main music playing will be nVidia Shield => Denon x4800h => speakers (surround, playing in stereo)
will adding this to the system have any advantage?
