What do you roll your eyes for? Lossless does not necessarily mean high sample-rate / bit-depth.
at the 'codec' part of that quote:
"a ‘lossless’ codec ie 44.1 .."
Sample rate is not a codec

Isn’t 16bit 44.1 a codec?
@supermood as far as I am aware no one has been able to tell the difference between lossless files ie 16/44 and ‘hi-res’.
Keith

Still not what 44.1 is:
"Examples of audio coding formats include MP3, AAC, Vorbis, FLAC, and Opus."

In digital audio, the sound wave of the audio signal is typically encoded as numerical samples in a continuous sequence.
For example, in CD audio, samples are taken 44,100 times per second, each with 16-bit sample depth.

And bit rate? Airplay is 16/44.1 but low bit rate of 256kbps, and it is easy to differentiate from 16/44.1 FLAC with 1.411kbps

good to know! I thought 44.1 is not enough if I'm entering the future now with a dedicated audio device. I'm already 45, loving LPs, i might remerbing some discussion with the new CDs 2p years ago and the not sufficient quality :)

@Purité Audio
sorry, I didn't want to start a flame like that with my questioning about the rolling eyes... cheers mate.
The  was meant because there can be both lossy & lossless encodings of a 44.1kHz Audio Signal.
No disrespect or anything.

No problem it is interesting to learn can we use ,
‘IEC 60908’ the ‘red book ‘ standard?
Keith

Don't know, but if you said something in the lines of "As long as you choose 44.1 in a lossless’ codec" or simply "lossless 44.1", it would make more sense.

Native Amazon music integration has a parsing strategies issue during playback lead to selecting an unexpected stream in some cases, which will be fixed in the next version.
Gapless playback of Amazon music will also be optimized.
Should be within a few days.
Thanks @mirror88. I'm curious if the originally advertised Airplay 2 capabilities will ever come to fruition or is that an impossibility at this point ? I noticed DMP-A8 specs didn't mention Airplay 2 either.

hearing now. sounds great!

where to report bugs?

1. library not updating even after manuel update. I've copied some files from one folder to another on the internal m2.
I can play from the old (and only from. there) even in file browser there not there. scanned m2 3 times now.

2. after I've added the files from the nas to the m2 as described in the manuel with pressing the ssd symbol. all files are in the main android folder. not in any dedicated music folder. not good.

3. can weg rid of that annoying question if I really want to end cast if I press end cast. what's that? its not like some self destruction sequence..

4. player view on the android mobile jumps from all black desk mode suddenly to a very bright Grey for the 3 pages with functions and lyrics etc...

5. library on android directly is OK but via cast barely usable with that lag and screen refreshes..

somehow unbelievable that you have an 3 month old device for nearly 900 eur with hdmi out specifically designed to stream audio files and nothing else and then it doesn't support that?

one device for every little xxx and another one and another one and in 50 years our little planet is....

DMP-A6 is a device meant to be used on Stereo systems. It just happens to do Multichannel DSD (5.1) just as a bonus just because the chips already supports it.

You do know that every manufacturer needs to pay a per device license to Dolby Laboratories if they want to implement Atmos right? that will only mean they will have to pass that cost to customers, which may not justify for a very niche feature.

If you are really into Atmos, just get an AV receiver.

yeah maybe but cannot be so much license I think it's more the implementation effort. I'm not a pro here. Just wondering for the hdmi audio out and as written it's audio and the device supports multi channel...

anyway I have an new denon x4800h but not clue how to stream atmos. maybe heos app and tidal

there are so many things not implemented and many more not logical I'm feeling like a beta tester. sorry but is this a joke? should all user write endless lists somewhere to develop that device?

sound is great for me. listening to Ella and Luis via qobuz high res is just really good! but I'm surely not the audiophile expert . +2

device good built would say. but without oled it's just ugly to look at the screen. black is bright grey even with brightness setting to nearly zero. not used to that anymore. Will turn it off I guess 4+

Software, after only 6 hours found about 30 bugs and 50 unlogical things ending up with a freeze while playing music 5-

Of course it isn't.
44.1 refers to the Audio Signal with a sampling rate of 44.1kHz (with a 16bits per sample depth).
Click on "signal" in Wikipedia and go to Examples of signals.
Perhaps we misunderstand each other.

My point was much more general; no audio digital signal is created without using a codec. Now, I could be wrong about that. It's been known to happen. However, I would be very surprised if you could point me to a digital audio signal that has been created without the use of a codec, all pedantry aside.

People often use contractions, shorthand or abbreviations. I can understand someone who says "sixteen forty-four one" (16/44.1) or "Redbook" when discussing digital audio instead of "an audio signal with a sampling rate of 44.1kHz with a sample depth of 16 bits". It's somewhat similar to pronouncing the acronym NASA as "na-suh" instead of "National Aeronautics and Space Administration", or referring to "the sound barrier" instead of "a speed of 1.125 feet per second or 1,234 kilometers per hour in dry air at a temperature of 68 degrees Farenheit at a mean sea-level pressure of 14.696 psi equivalent to 29.1292 inches of mercury column".

If we were discussing the diameter of anti-tank ammo rather than digital audio, then I could see that there would be confusion, but we weren't discussing the diameter of anti-tank ammo.
