Eversolo DMP-A6 Gen 2 -- Dead!

I think Eversolo could do a lot to restore confidence if they were more transparent. For example, by sharing which production batches were affected by this defect and how it’s being addressed.
I think I've read somewhere that they actually do. Retailers know if your unit belongs to the defective batch.

Eversolo always urges distributors and dealers actively handle after-sales issues. All shipping costs incurred for after-sales services related to A6 GEN 2 power supply problems will be covered by Eversolo.

When it comes to the cost of shipping, two options are available:
1.Coordinate shipping costs with your seller (we are notifying all sellers as much as possible). Local distributors will later settle this with us.

2.Alternatively, if you pay the shipping cost upfront, then contact [email protected] directly with:
Device model
MAC (found on the bottom label)
Proof of shipping payment
Your PayPal account for reimbursement

Note on affected units:
1. The potentially affected batch was produced in February 2025.
2. All currently sold A6 GEN 2 units and other Eversolo models are unaffected.
3. If an issue occurs, it typically appears within six months of use.

Our commitment:
If any A6 GEN 2 device experiences a power supply issue within two years, it will receive a free power supply replacement. Please rest assured, we would never permit our clients to spend money on devices that won't be functional in a few years. Prioritizing user experience and delivering high quality have always been Eversolo's goals. We will implement more rigorous management in future production.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you for your understanding and support.

I’m really glad to see Eversolo step up here, this is a massive and reassuring response. That said, I don’t think the problem is isolated only to the February 2025 batch. My unit was ordered and shipped in January, so it seems earlier production runs may have been affected as well.

I hope Eversolo can dig deeper into production records to identify all potentially impacted units and address them proactively, short of a full recall. Transparency around which ranges are at risk will go a long way toward restoring confidence

I just received my RMA’d A6 ME Gen 2 back from the Canadian distributor. Right away I noticed something strange: when I tilt or rotate the unit (for example, to access the NVMe slot), there’s a component inside that seems to slide and make a thunk/click sound.

My original unit never behaved like this. Since the sound is coming from the power inlet/PSU area, I suspect the replacement job may not have been done properly. Perhaps a missed screw, standoff, or unsecured harness meant to hold the new power supply in place?

Can other owners who’ve had their units repaired confirm if you’ve experienced the same thing?

Six months after buying the first of my two Eversolo DMP-A6 Gen 2 streamer/DACs, it up and died. I mean completely and totally. No power. It wouldn't start up. It wouldn't even get warm.

I tried swapping the power cord with my second unit, tried different power outlets. Nothing.

I, like most on the Zidoo forums have been posting about a lot of weird playback issues and bug fixes lately, but none of them seem to be related to power. I haven't seen one yet where the thing simply wouldn't start up. Come to think of it, I have never seen a piece of audio gear fail so totally (and I've been buying hi-fi components since the early 1970s).

I've contacted the reseller and posted a notice on the Zidoo forum and am anxious to hear if anyone else has had this happen to them -- or if it does, in time. (As I said, it took mine about six months to fail.) I am keeping an eye on my other A6.
Yes, I had a Gen 1 and returned it to Amazon as the Gen 2 was released within the Amazon return period. After six months, mine died too. Just like it was unplugged. No indication of any power whatsoever. I returned it to the dealer (not Amazon for the Gen 2 as I got a 6 year warranty and within around 20 days, it was returned to me, working fine. I assume it was the new Linear PSU failed.

The power supply was replaced in the first A6 that I bought. Shortly after that, both my A6s started showing problems (the one that was repaired, as well as the one that was not). When I pressed the button to power on, it sometimes did nothing. It often took repeated pressings to get them to start up.

Yesterday, the one that was repaired (given a new power supply) died completely again. I am now waiting for both of them to be sent in for repair. IMHO those who are considering purchasing one of these might want to hold off until they get to the bottom of this.

I wish I had done that. I wouldn't have had all these problems.

I wonder if it's some more general problem - first the DX5 II "curse", now this...
Wasn't usual a few years ago. Or it's just the "bubble effect".

My buddy had his DMP-A6 Gen 2 after less than 2 months. I was very frustrated by this because it was his first foray into real audio gear after I pushed him into getting it! It let out a loud "buzz" then "pop" through the speakers and then produced no output after that. It would power on, just no output. It also blew a fuse in his power amp during this failure. We tested all components and verified that the DMP-A6 failed. Thankfully after replacing the fuse in the amp it was still good.

It took more than 3 weeks to get his replacement back from Eversolo but they did finally send it. I am very frustrated to see this failure. I had really enjoyed my DAC-Z8 and I have another friend who got a DMP-A8 and DMP-A6 based on this recommendation. Also another friend who got the Play. I am really hoping Eversolo is not going to continue to see field failures. I am holding off buying my own DMP-A6 until I hear more positive stories of units functioning without failure. IMO I would encourage anyone to stay away from used units at this stage for fear of reliability issues.

The are replacing both of mine (after having replaced the power supply in one of them). That's fine with me, as long as the replacements work. Sure, there are some weaknesses and design flaws, but the good outweighed the bad and it was the best that I could find at this price point. (I bought a second one, a couple of months after getting the first. So, that should tell you something.) Unlike Loxjie, which has been ignoring my requests for a repair of its LCD screen or replacement. (Not sure whether it's LCD, LED, or OLED. All I know is it worked for the better part of a year, then suddenly deteriorated to the point where I can barely read it. So much for their warrantee.)
