Wow, it's like a secret backdoor to the papers login!

It isn't. They somehow have a way to allow certain papers and docs to be read without login. That is how Harman has distributed their AES papers for years. They link to AES site but no long is required to fetch them.

AES is also moving to allowing more of their papers to be read for free.

It's neither. It's a pacific NW section site, not the main site, and it's for stuff that's presented to the PNW section. That's all.

This is not the open part of the papers area. That's totally different.
