Noticed Russia was banned from this one too for obvious reasons. What a shame.Looks like Ukraine stole this one with pity points. Greaaaaaaaaaat.

Call them pity points if you like.
Personally I think this is an incredibly postive message for the people of Europe to send to the people of Ukraine. And to the people of Russia - if they are able to receive it.

Portugal and Spain the only ones I could listen to more than about 20 seconds. The most exceptional - as in different from the europop standard.Portugal was most to my taste.
https://www.euractiv.com/section/eu...g-deal-for-ukrainians-and-not-only-this-year/I don't mind Ukraine winning either, this is obviously to show some solidarity with the country. It's never been just about the music, neighboring countries are for instance very likely to vote for each other.
And Kazakhstan. The name should be changed. Unless it implies [the vision] of wanting to be in EU or NATO.Off the top of my head, Azerbaijan and Israel are also non-European participants, and Turkey is only barely in Europe.
^^-o heh? Are you serious? How could that be the reason? All I could think of is that it's a British colony iow European. So then Canada, NZ and USA should be in too.Australia's in the eurovision competition. It's no where near Europe. Is it the only non-european country in the competition?
Why? Because Aussies have a long history of loving eurovision.
Call them pity points if you like.

I have news for you:Off the top of my head, Azerbaijan and Israel are also non-European participants, and Turkey is only barely in Europe.
I’m sure you have heard of the term Caucasian describing the White European race. That is the name of the mountains to the east off Turkey and just north of Azerbaijan. Your map is the political map of Europe, not geographical. The border follows the Urals, then passes through the Black Sea, like so:
![]()
Azerbaijan and Turkey (apart from a tiny corner) are thus clearly in Asia.
Italy got 6 euro for each euro invested in this fraud so it seems not to be a bad business after all.Off the top of my head, Azerbaijan and Israel are also non-European participants, and Turkey is only barely in Europe.
As for the result this time, I'm thankful we (UK) won't have to host it next year. I'd rather see my tax money spent on something more useful.

Do you know that more people watched Eurovision than the FA Cup final? As for the result this time, I'm thankful we (UK) won't have to host it next year. I'd rather see my tax money spent on something more useful.
This doesn't make sense at all. The jury watches a 'practice run' of the show weeks before the real thing and they vote based on that. The whole calling countries for the votes is just a charade for TV.Trivia: did you know that 6 countries' juries votes were canceled (stolen) by the organisers? These "technical problems" concering connections with national juries were not tehnical at all. Organisers just erased what 6 countries voted for and decreted 12 points go for Ukraine. Romania, Moldavia, Adzerbaidjan, Poland and others were just humiliated by "technical problems". Romanian national TV for example had an official statement about the matter. It's one thing to steal $millions and totally a different matter stealing just plain bad cheap tunes masqueraded as music. ABBA at Eurovision was such an accident...
200 milion viewers Saturday night.Do you know that more people watched Eurovision than the FA Cup final?
Or that the UK exports music revenues are almost £3 million? We earn a lot from music and Eurovision can only help that.
Just check the official statements of national televisions involved. Sense is such a great abstract concept. This doesn't make sense at all. It makes absolutely zero sense for the votes to be changed or faked.
My first post is there to show my reference for you to see. Here's the description of Europe from Britannica:
"Europe, second smallest of the world’s continents, composed of the westward-projecting peninsulas of Eurasia (the great landmass that it shares with Asia) and occupying nearly one-fifteenth of the world’s total land area. It is bordered on the north by the Arctic Ocean, on the west by the Atlantic Ocean, and on the south (west to east) by the Mediterranean Sea, the Black Sea, the Kuma-Manych Depression, and the Caspian Sea. The continent’s eastern boundary (north to south) runs along the Ural Mountains and then roughly southwest along the Emba (Zhem) River, terminating at the northern Caspian coast."
Do you have anything to back your stance other than hand-waving and irrelevant references to a made-up "race"?
There are two votes, jury vote and the public vote. Final result is the sum of two.Just check the official statements of national televisions involved. Sense is such a great abstract concept.
I speak none of the native languages and have zero per-requisite knowledge to be able to do any fact checking on the matter.Just check the official statements of national televisions involved. Sense is such a great abstract concept.
